In my search to find a copy of the Godzilla novelization in nearby store (no true book stores in town) I have once again been confronted with the mighty disappointment of the book wall -- they're something like 60% 'romance' novels nowadays.

Even bookstores aren't immune to the 'romance' novel monster, the Books-A-Million nearest me reduced their Science-Fiction & Fantasy section while increasing their romance novel section. I can't buy spend money on books in stores if they don't bother to carry what I want to buy.

Doubly frustrating is that the city I live in now used to have a great Waldenbooks in town, but Borders execs in their infinite wisdom decided to shut down all the Waldenbooks stores nationwide and expand with more big Borders stores (around 2004/05 I think). Now Borders is gone, and there aren't any small book store chains anymore.

There may be an independent book store in town, but from what I can tell their stock seems to be filled with more tchotchkes and local special interest type stuff than general books (and they have odd hours). I could probably have them order something in, but at that point I'm better off saving gas money and ordering online myself.

^I saw the Godzilla novelization in the local B&N a few days ago. It's a fairly good store. Luckily, my town has a few chain stores (B&N and BAM), as well as a few great used bookstores and a nice library (with lots of branches).

Yeah, it's looking like I'm going to have to make a trip out of town to a bookstore to pick up a copy or order online from somewhere. There's a BAM about about 10-12 miles away, not a covenient weekday stop but much closer than other options (the closest B&N is 45-60 minutes away, but I have a B&N Membership so it's pretty convenient to order online from them instead of fighting traffic).

There's a used bookstore in town but they always stamp the inside of their books which I'd rather not be stuck with if I have a choice, though they do spend a fair amount of time rounding up books and I've found copies of books that I haven't found anywhere else (even online). Fortunately there are couple Half-Price Bookstores about 30-40 minutes away, they're always cool to visit when I have the opportunity; I've found some really good deals there.

I've just watched the original opening them to Gatchaman like four times. It's the greatest single achievement of the human race.

I love the style of themes that were composed for anime & live action shows of this period in Japan, they're great fun to listen to.

I got a big kick out of tribute guise of Sogeking in One Piece. Toonami is getting close to that now, it'll be interesting seeing the dub version of the song.

^I feel like I'd like One Piece if I actually watched it. Trouble is: 700+ episodes makes it unbearably intimidating.

I started watching the original Astro Boy series on Youtube, but stopped when Dark Horse announced they were releasing omnibus editions of Tezuka's original comic. Immediately I thought: the anime can wait, I'm getting it straight from the source!

Right now, I think the other two are Bleach and Naruto. (as far as active series goes)

Toriko has been pretty fun reading too, well worth checking out. If you were to expand Shonen Jump's Big Three, Toriko is probably the first series folks would add to the list.

As for AI LOVE HAMBURGER, it is rather strange, but it is neat and cute.

Just so weird though... American Girls and Hamburgers. I at least hoped they'd get more creative with stereotypes.
