Mikogami Trilogy Part 1 - The Trail of Blood

"Mikogami Trilogy" follows a Yakuza samurai whose attempt to escape the criminal organization is met with violent hostility from his fellow mobsters. When the samurai's family is butchered by the angry Yakuza, he pursues the path of limb-hacking, flesh-flaying revenge. Yoshido Harada, Katsuo Nakamura, and Etsuko Ichihara star in this 70's Toho classic, think of a Yakuza Lone Wolf! some amazing swordplay one has to love!

That's Guiron. I wouldn't have known that a few weeks ago. I recently got into the Gamera series. I've been getting the DVDs on Amazon for about a dollar a piece. They're not great DVD releases, but I can't complain about the price. I watched "Gamera vs. Guiron" a few days ago. It was pretty enjoyable. Of what I've seen, already one of my favorites of the Gamera series.

I hear ya. I fell asleep during that and the first Rebirth of Mothra. Those movies do not interest me. I think it took me a week to watch both of them.

Gamera Vs. Guiron is perhaps my favorite Showa Gamera film. It was my first, and it has remained my favorite. Gamera Vs. Gyaos would be the next in line :D

 That one too can get boring!

Super Monster Gamera can get really boring since the fight scenes are stock footage. It's still entertaining though, for me that is. :)

Watched the Friday the 13th Reboot/Remake what ever you want to call it tonight.

It was okay for a Jason movie but the boob and extreme death scences where upped in this one and that's not a bad thing.

Hellboy II - :? ummm....i dunno how i feel about this right now...

positives: Ron Perlman is awesome, the effects are stunning, the spectacle and grandeur is definitely all there, the sarcastic humor makes a welcome return

negatives: the STORY didn't do much for me - it was OK but i think the love scenes were far too focused on and shoulda been toned way down in favor of upping the conflict and tension a bit more. at times it definitely felt MASSIVELY dumbed down like 'oooh look at this critter and this creature and this and this and this and THIS....and this this this this and this!' and i just felt underwhelmed after a while...though i suppose that's kind of the POINT

overall i thought it was pretty good and it'll probably end up for me exactly like the first movie...not sure whether i liked it or not right after seeing it the first time, but grown on me over time

Well, I just upped and skipped it. I was able to watch it for 15 minutes this time and could not stand those annoying child actors. I may just give up watching these whenever I finish the next one (which I started)... they are so bad

Man, I just started watching that one last night. I also got bored with it. I'm going to try to watch it again tonight. The stock footage from "Gamera vs. Barugon" and "Gamera vs. Gyaos" is what really put me to sleep.

You know, I personally thought Gamera vs. Barugon was really boring. I didn't enjoy it that much.

It's Alive - Holy "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" is this a bad movie...I'm not sure if it ever got the MST4K treatment, but it was EASILY worthy of it...i had to watch it in like 20-40 minute chunks over a couple of days

though the guy who plays the main character (don't know his name) was actually a decent actor, not sure if he was ever in anything else...

Fantastic film! Eckhart did an amazing job with that one. Really sold you on his character.

"The Cooler". Nice casino movie, but when I heard that the casino scenes were shot in Reno rather than Vegas, I thought, "Yep, that's Reno all right."

Cripes, the next one isn't much better! It seemed like it was going to get interesting when they were gonna cut that kids head open, but then it's like "we want to eat his brains!" Plus it was the most poorly constructed plan! Why befriend the children for so long? Why not just kill them immediately! They're the worst villains EVER. And why does that Japanese kid know so damn much? He figures everything out in an instant on that planet. Least the monster fights are fun, although Gamera being defeated by a ninja star to the face is lame.

I want to give Gamera vs Monster X a chance because I know it doesn't have lame aliens in it, but we'll see. If I do watch it it'll be the last. These movies are just so bad

Devour - a very meh, horror film. Starts out promising enough, kid is having these waking nightmares/visions. His friend signs him up for an ARG. His visions start to come true (more or less) and his friends and family are the victims.
Then, blah blah blah it's all actually some ancient cult blabbity blabbity, holy crap he's actually the son of the devil or is he?

Mostly, it didn't work because I didn't even remotely care about any of the characters considering the main characters best friend tries to pull a gun on somebody for some indescernable reason early in the film...and i'm supposed to SYMPATHIZE with these psychos?? not to mention the zillion and one other problems...

i think i need to give the schlock a rest for a day or two and watch something WORTHWHILE...i still haven't given my copy of the Exorcist a run, just to make sure the disc works...i also haven't watched Let the Right One in yet...
