I had heard that John had been ill, however had no idea about the severity. This is a great loss and I wish the best for his family and friends. I only knew John from a few transactions for back issues of Kaiju Fan and also for acquiring the Honda reference book "Age of the Gods" by the late Guy Mariner Tucker.

RIP John Rocco Roberto, you will be missed!

That's very sad news. Cancer is a horrible way to go. I really hope he didn't suffer and lets be thankful that he's at peace now.

I never met him personally but he seemed like a great guy. Whenever I would E-mail him with a question he would always E-Mail me back quickly and was very cordial and nice with his responses.

He was a great contributor to G-Fan as well. His articles (especially the Godzilla in America articles) were great reads. And when he left, G-Fan has never been the same.

In a fandom full of pricks and jerks, it's sad to see one of the "good guys" leave us.

Very sad news indeed.

I met John in at the tiny word of mouth G-Con #1 in 1994 and spent what seems like a lot of time hanging out with him in the 5 years that followed. Even though I wasn't really a part of the G Mafia, he always treated me like one of the gang. I am especially grateful for his giving me the chance to work on Toho in America for KAIJU FAN.

Like Guy Tucker last year, JRR went too young. Hopefully his passing is not the continuation of a trend that could be called the G Mafia Curse.

This is very sad news. I remember first meeting John and Carol at one of the earliest G-Cons. He was always friendly with me and my wife and I enjoyed his company. My prayers are with his family and friends. I am proud to have known him and called him a friend.

Say hi to Tsuburaya and Honda up there for me John,
