I finished it.
This movie is HORRID. I WANT to like it so much, because I think Cavill COULD be a good Superman, if he were allowed to BE SUPERMAN, and Affleck plays a good Batman, even if the script ruins him and turns him into a murderous buffoon who ignores facts and wants to murder for his "legacy"
We ultimately tie up a COUPLE of the movie's loose ends, but we still are left wondering why our heroes ever had to fight in this storyline. Why can't they just say, "Hey, this guy who's a psychotic jerk wants to kill my mom. Let's get him together." ? How did Luthor know any of the things he knows, and what the hell is really the whole POINT of the Holly Hunter storyline if it's just gonna get steamrolled by the whole Doomsday thing? Why did Luthor create Doomsday? Why is the Knightmare sequence horrible? Why is the Kevin Costner cameo even worse? Where does half the dialogue even come from? Seriously, when I first saw the movie, I thought that the dialogue was just there because it was trailer material and "sounded cool" and then I heard about the extended cut and thought, "Well, maybe it will make more sense in context," but it really doesn't. Lines like "Do you bleed? You will." and "Day vs. Knight" or whatever the hell it is Luthor says still come out of nowhere for no good reason. Particularly egregious there is the "Is she with you? I thought she was with you!" exchange. Hey Batman. You JUST e-mailed her. Like, two hours ago (according to the movie-verse time). You already forgot about this person? Also, the big problem of Lois knowing what the Kryptonite spear is, and that Doomsday is Zod and that the spear will work on him still remains (plus Superman forgetting that spears are designed to be THROWN).
If anything, this cut is worse, honestly, because it gives our heroes MORE information (the heroes, not just the viewers) for them to completely ignore all in service of having Batman and Superman fight for the worst possible reason...and become friends for a reason so bad, it's not even possible; I still think it's some kind of a joke. Eisenberg's performance is still an atrocious pile of crap as well.
Batman v Superman is one of the very worst superhero movies of the past 10 years...hell, it's one of the very worst movies of 2016 period. And that makes me sad, because I liked Man of Steel and would like nothing more than a series with a different flavor than the MCU.
Beyond that, I absolutely hate its cynicism. This is an UGLY (in terms of its general viewpoint on humanity) movie, and to come from a genre that's supposed to be about bringing out the BEST in people and ideals people should want to aspire to, it's sickening. I'd say the movie could use another few passes at the script to tighten up all the plot holes and poor dialogue and whatnot, but it's broken at its very core and general viewpoint.
