The true origins of Mechagodzilla?

It's come to my attention that perhaps the Black Hole aliens didn't actually conceive or initially construct Mechagodzilla. In both instances of their attacks, with the first and second Mechagodzillas, they required the assistance of a human scientist.

Why would they need to help of a scientist from a planet that they themselves are attempting to destroy if they built the mechanical double?

Perhaps they stole Mechagodzilla from another race of aliens attempting earth conquest?

Granted, it could just be that the Black Hole aliens arriving on earth didn't bring with them the robot's inventors, but rather nothing more than an armada of soldiers to utilize it. Then, it would make some sense that they would need the assistance of an earth scientist.

The MechaGodzilla in ToM is the just the repaired MG from GvsMG, he's not a wholly new construct.

You answered your own question quite well, and I agree. Do you know how to build the computer you're typing on from it's base parts? Not mother board, graphics chip etc, but from the metals and plastics that form each individual piece?

Soldiers who man a tank don't necessarily know how to build one from the ground up, fighter pilots can't assemble a jet fighter from it's component parts. Why should we expect different of an alien species, be they malevolent or not?

Clearly the Black Hole aliens brought mechanics/repair technicians with them to maintain MechaGodzilla - but a technician can only do so much. An automobile mechanic can certainly do a lot of repair work to a car, but he probably can't build you a brand new Ford Mustang. Indeed, most mechanics are limited in just what they can repair on a modern vehicle because of all the computer intergration.

The Black Hole aliens only required the assistance of scientists in very particular fields - expertise that their repair technicians apparently didn't have.

Hmm, this is interesting theorizing, but....

For a dose of reality:

- They're aliens, they're bad guys, they're trying to conquer the Earth. It's a 1970's Godzilla movie. 'Nuff said. And kidnapping an Earth scientist? It's evil! It doesn't make any sense, it's evil! They can be bad guys if they kidnap people and put the "heroes" in peril.

BTW, even still, how does Miyajima know how to fix Mechagodzilla? Did he take a "space technology" course while in college?

Also, Terror of Mechagodzilla brings in a new twist which puts a glaring plothole in the first Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla - If they needed the assistance of an Earth scientist to repair Mechagodzilla, why kidnap Dr. Miyajima and his daughter, when Dr. Mafune, who was already a willing ally, was close by, and would have needed no blackmailing to do the job? Terror of Mechagodzilla makes it pretty clear that Mafune and the Simeons have been in cahoots for quite a while now, certainly, they were plotting as far back as the previous year. Also, for that matter, why is it that the Simeon leader looks the same in both movies? Did they clone him?

But of course, Terror of Mechagodzilla is really just a quasi-sequel to Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla anyway. Notice how no one mentions King Caesar at all, even though he was helpful in holding off Mechagodzilla the first time, and also, at the beginning of the movie, they are looking for Mechagodzilla's head in the wrong place. Mechagodzilla was defeated in the first movie off the coast of Okinawa, which is not where they are at the start of Terror. They seem to imply that the Simeons have already recovered Mechagodzilla's head, and that is why they cannot find it, when in actuality, they are in the wrong place, so no wonder. I also like how Ichinose acts so shocked when he hears "It's a dinosaur!" in the sub's recording, as if it could be inconceivable that another dinosaur could be discovered, after Godzilla, Anguirus, Rodan, Baragon, Gorosaurus, etc. For that matter, since giant monsters, and even giant monster control have been displayed several times already in the series, why is it everyone still thinks Mafune is a crackpot, along with his theories?

And I believe that "Simeons" was mentioned in The Official Godzilla Compendium and some other places, as being the "official" name that Toho chose for them. But I know I've heard in it several places, and for quite some time, so I've always just used it. Give me a name where there is none, and I'll use it.
