I did some looking into this, and there's unfortunately not much to find, but what I did find out is that "Kameregon" is intended to mean "Chamelegon." How do I know this? Well besides the obvious, there's already a monster named Chamelegon from a Mirror Man episode. Said monster has the epithet of "transparent," implying that it also is an invisible monster. And it makes sense that two monsters with an invisibility gimmick would arrive at the same name being what with chameleons camouflaging and all that. I think it's really cool, though, that unlike those tv monsters, the gimmick with Toho's Chamelegon is that ONLY Godzilla can see him, not that he's actually invisible, it's just that the material he's made of only reflects UV light or something. A plot about humans using Godzilla's behavior to figure out he's seeing something they aren't, and realizing why that is and how to see it themselves, basically writes itself. We can build a super weapon that can see UV just fine, but with Gigan running around as a distraction, and maybe if Chamelegon is immune to Godzilla's ray or something, you get a dynamic similar to the way the end of GvsH played out.
I also found out, thanks to the Japanese wikipedia, that the name was "Gojira Sakusen" which skyne-I mean google is telling me means "suicide strategy." I... I don't think that's the best translation possible, though.
And Yet Another One?
