Racmount said nothing can move like a CGI character. Most of them move as if there is no gravity. Then tend to float through the scenes.
Exceptions being PJ's King Kong but he was motion captured from Andy Serkis.
Like others said, CGI is just one tool in the box. One tool doesn't fit every job, and you shouldn't ignore a tool if it is the best choice.
This is what I think.
1. I will take an in-camera effect any day over a post production effect.
2. Flying creatures look best in CGI.
3. However, space ships look like crap in CGI (Cept for the new Battlestar Galactica). Give me a good model any day. Expecially an 11' Starship Enterprise.
Just becarefull, anytime you make a general statement there will be exceptions ALLWAYS.
