here's something i've always wondered...

now, when an american dub butchers a kaiju's name like minya or anguirus (these two get so many different names throughout the movies, if you had a monster for each name, you'd have more than toho has ever created) I USUALLY understand where they get such butcherings...ala minya, angilas, ghidrah instead of ghidorah, hell godzilla instead of gojira...usually it makes sense sound-wise

also, even though i don't understand how the word kamacuras became gimantis, i understand where the word came from...

BUT where in god's name did the word SPIGA come from??? i mean it doesnt even SOUND OR LOOK like kumonga and its not like its gispider...or spido or spideria or well u get the idea...

any help on where this particular name came from?

I always figured it was SPIderGiAnt. :dunno:

But, that is my assumption.

I've always been under the impression that "Radon" came from Pteradon... it's an incorrect term, but then so is Godzilla as an anatomically correct dinosaur...

I'm not sure, but I think Pteranadon in Japanese is Pu-Te-Ra-Don
