Am I the only one who doesn't want to see Kong cross-over with this Godzilla? That's a really hard thing to pull-off in the tone this Godzilla series is going for.

There was a lot of stuff I liked about PJ's King Kong (besides being approximately one hour too long), but something I didn't like was that Kong only had one monster battle. It was spectacular but... come on! Kong's a scrapper and spends most of his time punching dinosaurs!

Just remember somebody had to get the map of Skull Island out to Denham. I could see the story being merchants getting shipwrecked on Skull Island and trying to escape.

I'd really like a more detailed description of the teaser's shot of Kong. Is he a more realistic ape as in PJ's film or is he more fantasy creature as in '33?

Friend of mine said the Kong here was closer to the original than Jackson's version.

Skull Island was the best part of King 2005. I just hated the over the top acting that was in the movie by certain actors and NYC.

I for one am glad that it will be focused on Skull Island.

Oh yeah and Weta better be doing the visuals cause they sure made an amazing skull island.


I'm all for a less realistic Gorilla kong and more of 33' kong. Less realistic t-rex's too. Just go nuts.

Hey guys, have not posted here in years! Really excited about this new King Kong movie. Doing some digging online i came across this pic which is supposedly the new King Kong. I am not sure if that is 100% true or not.

Also heard Neil Marshall may still be involved with this project. He would make a badass Kong film.. The Descent and Dog Soldiers are fantastic and he did those early in his career. Hes gone on to direct some of the best Game of Thrones episodes, and can definitely handle a Skull Island movie and make it awesome. Did you guys see the 2nd to last episode of this season of Game of Thrones? Marshall directed that, also he directed the battle of Blackwater in season 2 and several other episodes. Hopefully he is the director on this.

^ i love Neill Marshall, but there are some very vocal posters on here that hate him. He also did a couple lower budget horror flicks worth checking out ('The Descent' and "Dog Soldiers')

Neil Marshall is awful. But Cornish could be good. Not as familiar with his stuff, but the prospect would be intriguing.

Okay, here's how I'm seeing it: the goal here is franchise, right? Well, since franchise = trilogy most of the time nowadays, this can go in two directions based on whether Skull Island is a prequel (as the Comicon descriptions suggested) or a sequel (as the rumors floating around now suggest).

If Skull Island is a prequel, then the series could be building up to a new King Kong remake something like Skull Island/Skull Island II/King Kong or Skull Island/King Kong/Son of Kong.

If Skull Island is a sequel as the rumors suggest, then it really could go anywhere! A thought that occurred to me amid all the KKvG talk was that maybe we're looking at this all wrong. Godzilla, after all, is still with WB while Kong is Universal. What else is Universal and is also getting rebooted? The Universal Monsters franchise. Maybe the plan could be to tie Kong in with the rest of the Universal Monsters and eventually make a King Kong vs. Frankenstein?

Let's try to clear things up....Legendary has just announced, with a concept teaser video at Comic Con, this new big budget prequel entitled "SKULL ISLAND" and have offered the directing gig to Joe Cornish ( Attack The Block)....

Then if you'll remember Fox Animation has more recently been working on an animated (traditional??/CGI/3D??) feature film with producer Ted Field's Radar Pictures to be directed by Shawn Levy entitled "KONG" as a family comedy film....:

However, years before either of these two projects were announced there was "KONG: KING OF SKULL ISLAND" which was a proposed 3D motion-capture feature film adaption of the Joe Devito/Brad Strickland novel/comic book series. The film was originally set up at Fantastic Films but later changed hands to Spirit Pictures(now it has left their hands). It's creators have been actively pursuing it over the years and I have been keeping tabs on the film's developement for quite some time now with updates on the loads of collectible merchandise that has been released comics, graphic novel collections, limited edition cards, apps, etc...:

There was some confusion recently that Neil Marshall was set to direct a feature film entitled "SKULL ISLAND: BLOOD OF THE KING" which was said to be an adaption of the "Kong: King Of Skull Island"(which it's not) novel which he was said to have purchased the rights to(which I'm told he does not own the rights too)...But he himself debunked that rumor(or atleast that he was directing it)....I'm still a bit confused about this one....Perhaps the website that reported the scoop had early word on Legendary's project and maybe at that time it had been offered to Neil Marshall but confused it with the Joe Devito/Brad Strickland novel adaption...However they even said it was the film which Radar Pictures/Ted Fields were developing which as stated above is a family friendly animated film('Skull Island: Blood Of The King' doesn't scream family flick to me)?!?!....??...:
