The Doc Savage book is a much better Doc Savage story than it is a Kong story.
Also, King of Skull Island never really needs to be a film as far as I'm concerned. I'm ok with the idea of a animated film maybe, but I think it'd be a waste of resources to turn a 'meh' novel into a film. Plus, it'd be confusing as the book seems to be a continuation of the original film's characters...not PJ's recent version.
