^ I agree. The two times with the Muto were because Ford wad directly interfering with it in some way, and with Godzilla it was a 'right place, right time' situation that provided a really great little dramatic beat for both characters.

I wasn't bothered. As a matter of fact; while the film has flaws, I think the last act is pretty much perfect.

Okay, so now that we got a good look at Kong from the new Kong Skull Island trailer, my anticipation is really high for Godzilla Vs Kong. Since the rumor is that this Kong is not yet fully grown, it's safe to assume that he will continue growing until he reaches the size or close to the size of Godzilla. From the trailer, it also seems that Kong is not a villain, but like Godzilla is only protecting his territory, in this case Skull Island. So when these two guys fight, I imagine it's to protect their territory and not because one is bad and one is good.

So since neither Godzilla or Kong are the bad guys, I'm assuming that King Ghidorah will be the big baddie and somehow Godzilla and Kong, and maybe other monsters as well, will team up against the three headed terror. Sounds great, but I just hope they don't cram too many monsters and story into this movie (like they did with Batman Vs Superman). My hope is that they will just focus on Godzilla and Kong for this movie, and the one after this will be a Destroy All Monsters type movie with all the monsters teaming up to fight King Ghidorah or any other vilianous monsters.

So After Godzilla Vs Kong, I'm hoping for a possible:

Godzilla and Kong: All Monsters Attack!

You know, in the original KKvsG, both monsters were essentially villains. Godzilla by nature, Kong by virtue of being kidnapped and getting lose in Japan. And while they have some territorial type clashes, the big showdown between the beasts is brought about by humans forcing them into contact with each other.

What if the new film puts a spin on the old concept of having both monsters be heroes/anti heroes who are forced into fighting by evil humans (monarch?). Not sure exactly how you do it, but it could be a cool concept.

I'm torn on whether I want this film to be purely Kong vs Godzilla or if I want to see them team up against a greater evil like King Ghidorah.

Oh please, no team-ups. We don't need a common enemy. Sometimes Freddy just fights Jason, or the Predator fights Aliens. Just let them, you know, fight.

Very possible, but I don't think that film started out as Godzilla vs Rodan.

I have no problems with Godzilla and Kong teaming against a common threat, I just don't want it to happen in Godzilla Vs Kong, but for the next film in the franchise which I hope will be a Destroy All Monsters type film.

Batman Vs Superman is a perfect example. In my eyes, that movie had no business being titled Batman Vs Superman because the movie's focus was not the battle between the two heroes, but it was just a prequel to the Justice League. The movie was crambed with too many ideas and too man characters.

This is not what I want for Godzilla Vs Kong. I want this movie to be simply about Godzilla and Kong, and somehow the two coming together to battle. If other monsters are going to be in this movie, it should be no more than a cameo or a very small role.

It would be an awesome idea to have Godzilla, Kong, Rodan, Mothra, etc to team up against King Ghidorah (and other vilianous monsters), but this should not happen in Godzilla Vs Kong. I hope Legendary/WB learned from the mistakes made by Batman Vs Superman and give us a great and satisfying battle between the two titans and prove who is truly the King of the Monsters

I kinda want Godzilla 2 to be a movie where Godzilla and Mothra fight at first but eventually team-up against a mutual enemy (not Ghidorah, as I'm hypothetically saving him for DAM). That would set the precedent for further team-ups, and also avoid remaking Mothra vs. Godzilla again.

The main focus of Godzilla vs. Kong I want to be Godzilla vs. Kong.

Judging from this recent trailer, this Kong seems to be benevolent in nature, and is only violent when aroused. Godzilla 2014 was not at all a villain. The question is, who is going to be the antagonist in this match-up?

Of course, in the next movie, they could change Godzilla from anti-hero, to a menace and thus they will need Kong to subdue this new threat. But in regards to team-ups, from "Ghidrah, The Three-Headed Monster" to "Terror of Mechagodzilla", seven of those last 11 G-flicks, were indeed team-ups! If Legendary decides to go that route with "Godzilla vs. Kong", I don't see an influence from "B v S", but rather, Toho's output during that era. In essence, Godzilla 2014 WAS a high-tech Showa film.

Thomas Tull has said he thinks of Godzilla as a hero and considers the audience to always be rooting for him so I wouldn't expect anything other than hero Godzilla from Legendary.

Good guys or not, they're both monsters and I don't think contriving a battle should be too difficult. Kong's guardian of Skull Island; maybe Godzilla shows up on the island, Kong rushes to defend and gets beaten by Godzilla, Godzilla then leaves and makes a beeline for some major city with Kong in pursuit for a rematch? There should probably be some B-plot going on with the humans that ties into this, like good guys and bad guys in pursuit of some nuclear mcguffin that's attracting Godzilla.

What if the movie ends like John Wayne/John Ford movie The Quiet Man?

The thing to remember here is that there's a clear distinction between a villain and an antagonist. A villain is a character whose actions are evil. The antagonist is the character whose actions stand in direct opposition to the protagonist's desires. These are often the same character in Hollywood movies to keep things simple, but they don't have to be. Setting Kong and Godzilla's desires in direct opposition should be straightforward, since Kong is territorial and Godzilla aggressively hunts down threats to his position at the apex of the food-chain.
