Possible HB influence, but at the same time Rodan's been tied to volcanic imagery since his original movie, as well as the second appearance in Ghidorah. Couple that with Fire Rodan's flame powers and you've got a lot of precedent for a Rodan that lives in a volcano and has fire/lava attributes.

In the IGN interview, O'Shea Jackson Jr. names Gigan as his favorite pre-2014 Godzilla movie and his reason is totally on-point.

Thanks to TerranigmaFreak for the screencap.

I don't know, it's hard to make anything out but there's a grub-like aspect to it that says larva to me.

I don't think Mothra's entire face is fitting in the frame. I think that's Mothra's mouth that Millie Bobby Brown is reaching toward.

Or maybe I'm just seeing it totally wrong.

That is fantastic!

It's cool seeing how people react to the trailer:

O'Shea's palpable fanboy excitement is very cool.

I wound up watching the IGN interview and another interview and those were both MUCH better than the actual panel.

I like to watch trailer reactions as well, except for people who are sort of fans but act like big fans but no really nothing about the franchise. Real fans that react you can tell cuz there's pure joy and watching it, and it's fun to watch people who don't know anything about what's going on react because most of it's been positive. But when I see somebody who says that they are huge fan and yet think that somehow Gamera is in the movie, mistakes Rodan for Mothra refers to Ghidorah as Hydra of pronounces Rodan, Rodin I have to cringe a little. I guess that's picking nits though so at least their fans butt it just makes it a little cringe worthy to watch.

The fan made 1964 style trailer though look pretty darn cool.

So a post-credits scene has been confirmed.

Though, honesty, nobody should be surprised. That's clearly the best way to throw open the door for GvK.

I don't think it's a stretch to say there'll almost certainly be one after Skull Island set the precedent, but that still looks to be a case of "some website says their sources have confirmed it" rather than anything that's come from Michael Dougherty or anyone who could definitively say for certain.

One random thing I thought might be kinda cool was if one of those additional monsters turned out to be that giant centipede-type creature from the 2014 film's original teaser. Not for it to necessarily have a "big" role or anything (that is to say as big as any of these non-headliners are going to get), but it'd just be a neat little callback to actually get to see it in the Monsterverse proper at last.

In answering my own question, today, went to check out the new "Mission Impossible" movie and lo and behold, the trailer was playing and it looked much better seeing it on the big screen as opposed to a computer monitor or a tablet. Saw the "Aquaman" trailer as well, and yes that also looked better (was not too keen on that one when I first saw it last weekend, but seeing it on a widescreen, dd make it look a little more interesting).

Just noticed something, and if this has all ready been mentioned, my apologies...in the trailer, when Rodan emerges from the volcano, is that Mothra flying towards him?

It could be, or possibly some sort of stealth bomber. It's hard to make out from that angle.

I saw the trailer on the big screen yesterday, and I can say that it was most definitely NOT Mothra (of course, when the movie comes out, things could change).

I did very clearly see Rodan in the Washington D.C. destruction scenes. It if funny, that here he attacks D.C. (presumably) In "Destroy All Monsters", Rodan attacks Moscow. This monster will now have attacked the capitals of the two biggest superpowers. Don't know if this was intentional by Michael Dougherty.

I think it's some big ship/plane, you can see what seems like the same thing on the clip of Ghirdorah unfurling his wings.

It's a plane. Though, in true new Godzilla movie fashion, people are thinking it's something else. Two Rodans Confirmed is the new Rodan Confirmed.

I think it's some kind of drone giving off signals that attracts the monsters once they are released.

I mean that thumbnail speaks for itself. And it has three red circles. That's how you can tell it's truly legit. All it needs is a big yellow arrow pointing to one of them and it might as well be coming straight from the director's mouth.

So far the official trailer has racked up about 18 million views.

Compare that to the other trailers Warner Bros put out -
Aquaman - 34m
Shazam - 16m
Fantastic Beasts - 8m
