It was mentioned during the conference by Michael Dougherty himself before they showed the trailer (it came up in the live blog I was following), so it's legit.

I wonder if he's referring to Kong be teased of something else.

Yeah I could totally see Kong being teased at the end of the film, either in the movie proper or as a post-credits scene.

I just hope that if they turn out to only be featured in a post-credits teaser or something that the credits themselves don't give away the surprise about ten seconds before the footage actually plays this time. :P

If there isn't a post-credits scene featuring Kong I'll be very surprised.

A few more random thoughts as I watch the trailer over and over:

Is that some kind of Atlantis-type underwater ruins I see at 44 seconds in?!

I think this is going to be Rodan's finest hour since 1956.

Classic yellow lightening bolts for King Ghidorah?!!! YESSSS!!!

Mothra larva is adorable

This trailer was 10,000 times more entertaining than both of the anime Godzilla flicks combined.

Was there ever a Ghidorah without yellow/golden lightning bolts?

Toho's Big Four in a Hollywood movie. I think what I've dreamed of since I was a child might be coming true.

Delivered by Tywin Lannister no less.

He can't give a bad performance. Adds a ton of gravitas to any scene he's in.

Millie Bobby Brown, on the other hand, looks awful and awkward and Vera Farmiga's line delivery and dialogue in the voiceover is really odd (and she's usually pretty good). Sure looks like any scene dealing with the family will be a total drag and we'll be counting the minutes until the next monster battle.

And it sure looks like the battles will be worth the price of admission.

Without looking at the trailer I assume it is something else.

Something tells me Toho doesn't want Godzilla to share the screen with Gamera. Just my hunch. But hey, I have seen some whacky things happen these days.

That Comic Con poster needs to be the official one. It's incredible and has gotten great reaction.

I just wonder...if this movie turns out to be what the trailer would make it seem it will be, how will they top it when it comes to vs. Kong? I just wonder, did that last sentence make any sense? :D

Kong wearing a suit of Mechanikong power armour might do it. I kind of hope that's what he's been hammering together out of wrecked ship hulls and helicopter parts since the 70s.

I'm almost speechless. It's a beautiful trailer, and I wasn't expecting it to be like that. Godzilla firing his atomic breath into the sky, the music kicks in, cut directly to Mothra unfurling her wings... It's a knockout.

Aside from all of the "wow" factor of this trailer, a note about Godzilla's redesigned back fins; I like how the biggest one in the middle is clearly based upon Godzilla 54's biggest fin.

I'm guessing Mothra's "god rays" ability will be a counter to Ghidorah's storm shroud:

I think Rodan has the potential to steal the show. It looks like they're really doing him justice.

Ghidorah is definitely the big bad in this flick. It's a GT3HM scenario.

I think that's adult Mothra right after she emerges from her cocoon and right before she sneezes on Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown.

Bear McCreary confirmed as the composer, and we'll apparently hear the classic Godzilla theme.

Wholeheartedly approve of this trailer! Favorite scene is of Godzilla spouting his atomic breath in the sky. And I am glad we only saw glimpses of the other monsters, but never in full (I am sure we will see them in all of their glory in the second trailer, which comes when - next spring?).

Other than Charles Dance's "King" line, all the dialogue was terrible.

What is wrong with the dialogue. All it did was set up the story, nothing more and as far as I was concerned, it was perfect for what was intended. They showed just enough, didn't hide Godzilla (why not since his design is no secret) and didn't give away the whole damn story.

Funny thing is that the reactions I got from people, especially women was how beautiful the trailer was....different color schemes for each element from the cold blues to the gritty browns in the Rodan scenes.

The best thing I heard too was how the music was reacted to, not the huge, epic music that people were expecting for a giant monster movie but again, soft and somber building to the dramatic finish.

Oh, and Godzilla has definately been snacking on some nuclear biscuits. I suppose once awoken in 2014, he didn't have much time to recharge the batteries but has since hit the gym.
