Sequel has already been confirmed. Announced that LP and WB will still work together with the Godzilla franchise after close to 200 million its first weekend!!!

I want at least 1 other Toho kaiju in this one with another new kaiju. If they have Mothra in this, they need to put in another walking kaiju the size of Godzilla also.

I think that Titanosaurus could work pretty well in this new universe.

So Godzilla 2 seems pretty much unavoidable now, and for good reason. The movie is amazing and was an awesome world-building film. So with a sequel most likely en route, what do you hope for?

Myself:

- Maser Tanks. The first film seemed to pay homage to masers a bit when attacking the Muto cocoon. It's not hard to imagine that type of weaponry going mobile in a world now aware of the existence of Godzilla and other beasts. Bringing in the masers seems logical. Maybe not a huge focal point, but definitely deserving of a reveal and battle scene against Godzilla or whatever else pops up.

- More atomic ray. LOVED its reveal in the first. Now we need to see it more.

- A classic opponent. I've got my fingers crossed for Ghidorah, especially if they go with Edwards' idea of a DAM-type scenario. If this happens, I imagine other kaiju (Rodan, Anguirus, Mothra, etc) would be awakening/becoming active because they sense Ghidorah's arrival on Earth. However, I would be happy enough with Godzilla making a solo return to take on the three-headed dragon.

- More Serizawa. Watanabe's performance grew on me even more during the second viewing. Hope he becomes the staple human of the series and only dies in the end when Godzilla dies/goes away for good. If he does return, I do hope something happens to him in the film (maybe surviving a crash or building collapse) that results in him missing an eye. I was actually expecting that in the first movie.

As long as we get Ghidorah at some point, I'll be as happy as a carrion crow on a carcass hehe.

I would like to see one good, uninterrupted, battle in broad DAYLIGHT! C'mon guys, if a little Korean movie like "Dragon Wars" could do it, I see no reason why a big budget Hollywood picture couldn't.

1. More Godzilla
2.Godzilla melts a tank that has fired on him
3. A fight with Angilas that ends with Angilas being submissive to Godzilla(like dogs working out the pecking order)
4. Godzilla and Angilas as allies
5. No major center piece battles during daylight. I just don't like them as they seem to diminish the grandeur.

-- More Godzilla in the movie: I think this will certainly happen, the new movie works great on it's own but it also prime set-up for sequels. Godzilla is introduced here and the possibility for him and other daikaiju to appear is an unspoken promise by the end of the film. Future movies don't need the slow & steady build for Godzilla, only newly appearing kaiju (be they classic or new creations) need any sort of set up (which doesn't need to take long) and Godzilla can show up fully formed (so to speak) when he needs to.

-- Perhaps a combination of classic and new kaiju in the sequel. The MUTOs were rather well done, and it'd be cool to see some more new kaiju in future films. As for dipping into Toho's cast, I believe Jellydonut noted elsewhere since the MUTOs are basically insectoid creatures, Mothra's impact in the sequel, even though she was Easter egged in the movie, could have been reduced. I'd have to inlcude Kamacuras and Kumonga as well.

I'd actually like to see Mothra retain her fantasy elements, rather than reduce her to simply a giant mutant bug. The same goes for King Caesar although he doesn't necessarily have a strong fantasy element, I think much of King Caesar's back story in GvsMG may work in a future film. And on that same note, it'd be cool if King Ghidorah and Gigan remained space daikaiju if they ever appear that way the door is open for alien threats to Earth.

I guess my short list of potential return candidates in sequel would be something like (and in no particular order) Anguirus, Rodan, Varan, Baragon, and Titanosaurus. Perhaps follow the classic Marvel team-up formula of having Godzilla and the returning kaiju battle each other mid-way through the movie and then join forces against the new kaiju for the climactic battle.

More Godzilla. Maybe if even just 5 more minutes of him on screen.

Now we have established Godzilla, we can see more of him. Maybe a few scenes were the military irritates Godzilla and provokes him into battle. I'd like to see a classic Toho kaiju and a few new ones. Maybe Anguirus and maybe Mothra. They could be mutants or creatures from Godzilla's time period. Like Mothra could be originally be an egg taken to a Monarch base that's been abandoned that was taken from the cargo cult natives of Infant Island. Because of the issues with O2 limiting insect size, the group finds out that Mothra's blood uses more oxygen from the air than we do and uses the substance 50 times more proficiently than we do. Godzilla may do it 20 times better than we do.

New technology like masers could be invented and used.

Personally, I'd like a film that begins a year and a half after the first and it opens in North Korea with some UN advisors. The audience finds out since the first film there were 3 North Korean Nuclear tests and a nuclear weapon related accident at one of their bases near the coast. A reptilian creature (might as well call it Tallaghan, it's in Korea of all things) This creature is causing trouble for the North Korean army and the advisors were brought in earlier to survey the nuclear damage, but Godzilla shows up and kills the creature and feeds on it. While the N. Korean military attacks him and he dismantles them. The creature turns out to be a creature that burrowed its way from the Gobi desert and Monarch archives show info about the creature being a mutant lizard from the surrounding area. More info about Monarch is aired, like secret bases in the USA and around the world and info about Moanster Island (from Awakening) and that it may be under control of a faction of Monarch that combined with a former Soviet counterpart organization after the Cold War. So Anguirus may be originally a mutant ankylosaur( that was asleep from the time period after the KT extinction event that dredged up radioactive material and spread it through the atmosphere(even though Awakening now suggests Godzilla of Permian origin) and caused its mutation maybe) that was sighted in Nevada after the tests in the 50's and was moved to he island in the 80's after the islanders were paid off to leave. Yeah so we have Anguirus, Mothra, and some new creatures on the island. Also because of Godzilla's age maybe have a baby Godzilla as well.

I would like to see both new and old kaiju to show up. Maybe bring a foe from outer space, not necessarily Ghidorah. But maybe some other monster to give Godzilla and Rodan or Angiurus (my two choices) a third to team up on.

And I second masers and more explanation to what is Monarch.

Now that we know exactly what he looks like and his character has been established, they don't have to hide Godzilla for so long when it comes to the next movie. And no more misleading marketing please.

If Edwards is serious about doing a 'Monster Island' movie (he's said as much), the easiest way to do that one movie in would be to have the other kaiju be from the same era as Godzilla and the Mutos. It's be a good catch-all origin for a lot of kaiju, classic and new.

Have Ghidorah show up from space in the third film - the other monsters being corralled into fighting him by Mothra (making Mothra the Nick Fury of the Godzilla universe).

Honestly I'd like to see two things:

1) A daytime fight.

2) More Godzilla. I'm all for build up and hiding things, but at some point I want a ton of monster action. One thing that worked really well were all the unique angles the monsters were shot in (Kaneko's kaiju films did wonders in that arena as well). You could keep that but still give us more Godzilla.

My one major complaint about the new movie was that the story doesn't necessarily revolve around Godzilla. For a sequel, we need to see him more, he should have more impact on the story than "he's around to fight other monsters." I'm fine with original monsters for him to fight, buy they need to be different than the MUTOs, and that also goes for classic characters if they are used. As much as I'd like to see Mothra or Rodan the MUTOs did have characteristics of both (as superficial as they were). So I think fellow dinosaur-like creatures like Baragon, Anguirus and Varan would be neat.

There's always Ghidorah too. But I just want a more Godzilla-centric plot more than anything. There's no need to tease him anymore.
