My problem with the majority of the Millennium films is basically that they're just more Heisei-style movies, just without Ifukube, Kawakita or continuity. Toho wanted to experiment, but they were deathly afraid of doing anything different with the Godzilla character. Except in GMK, which I felt was overkill.
