Max Borenstein to write Godzilla

All I know is what this guy thought he was putting on the page and what ended up on the screen were two totally separate things. I've had about enough of the people involved with G 14 praising the original film and saying they wanted to do something in the same spirit of...and then there's what we got...watered down, dog-poo...and it'd be a lot more tolerable if the film makers had said that they wanted to replicate the spirit of the later Showa films (70s).

Look, the guy sounded nice, educated and all around very pleasant but I'm not sure he really understands Godzilla. I'm very uneasy about him doing the sequels and now Kong as well. I really wish we would have gotten a new crew for the sequel. We could have gotten the sequels faster and they could have been different...instead, we are going to wait for 4 years for a movie that probably isn't going to be any better than the first film.

Right now Legendary is the closest thing we have to a modern Toho with how they're dolling out giant creature movies.

2015- Jurassic World
2016- Skull Island
2017- Pacific Rim
2018- Godzilla 2

THat's MORE than enough to tide me over for G'2. I'm excited for Godzilla 2, but its so far off, I'd rather be excited about the stuff coming out between then,

You know, American International Pictures tried a somewhat similar approach not revealing Godzilla's adversary during promotions. I wonder if the revelation that the monster Godzilla fought was Mothra pissed off a lot of people because that was not what was expected with a title like "Godzilla vs. The Thing". The movie poster showed nothing but huge tentacles attacking Godzilla and this was not what appeared in the film. The only difference in this situation was that Edwards did not want to reveal the fact that Godzilla would indeed clash with other monsters and in the majority of films prior, he was the good guy. I've said it once and I'll say it again. The disappointment to some was a product of deception but one that has been done before, time and time again. Just because someone does not approve of how a film is promoted does not automatically make it a bad movie.
