The way they TRIED to portray Godzilla was commendable. I actually really, really like the Heisei Godzilla. But they got really lazy with him by 1992.

The only problem with the Heisei Godzilla is that he got fatter as the series progressed, to the point where by Spacegodzilla he could only waddle. Even in the bad Heisei films, Godzilla himself was always done really well.

I wonder how many fans pick the first "G" film they ever saw as their favorite? For me it was Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster.
Yes I will agree that it would be nice (not to mention rather telling) if the people behind the scenes of this new movie alluded to knowing and enjoying more than just the '54 film. Geez, maybe even a few diehard G-geeks among them?

Well for my money, the original is still the best AND my favorite.
Godzilla vs. Gigan is the first one I saw all the way through (saw the tail end of Mecha Godzilla before that), and both of those films hold a very special place in my heart, but I love movies like the original and GvsThe Thing so much more. Those are just perfect. The original is definitely my favorite movie of all time.
