I almost pre ordered the behind the scenes book last night but am holding off until the movie releases. I figured a new comic series would launch in May with the movie.

Yeah, I suspected a movie adaptation, so this will be neat, not as interesting as a regular IDW series or the film itself.
UNLESS they do some kind of sequel or prequel comic as they do with Transformers/Star Trek and the like. Those were interesting. (Star Trek more so)

Firstly: this should really be in the G'14 board.

Secondly: here's a tally of the official G'14 merchandise as well as other Godzilla licensed products released to take advantage of the film - that we know about so far, of course.

-Re-releases of the Classic Media DVDs
-Complete '98 animated series on DVD
-Toyline (aimed at kids) from Bandai
-Toyline (aimed at adult collectors) from NECA
-Tie-in books: novelization, Art of, kids activity books
-G'14 prequel graphic novel
-IDW miniseries unrelated to G'14 but released to coincide with film
-re-release of August's Tsuburaya book (not sure if this was timed to coincide, but still awesome)

and the year is just beginning, guys!

Seriously, closed door meetings? This reluctance to show the Big G (even though we know what he looks like essentially by now) is reminenscent of G 98. I don't understand this decision. Kong 05 certainly didn't do that...and I don't think anyone elected not to go and see the film because they knew what Kong looked like. By that token, I also don't think anyone went to see G 98 solely because they wanted to see what Godzilla looked like.

It's a courtesy to the fans to reveal him...also, you'd think they'd want a proper reveal by now instead of leaked pictures of bargain-based kids' toys.

This nonsense about a "March embargo" is ridiculous. That's two months before the movie comes out. Why should people have to wait that long to see merchandise for a major Summer movie? I probably won't buy any of this stuff, but I don't agree with the decision.
