This part of it is interesting:
Takahashi also noted that Legendary's version of the franchise is very different, and they are quite supportive of this, "Legendary has its own vision of how they want to create their Godzilla platform, TOHO does come in, and makes sure it’s streamlined to ensure Godzilla characters are treated correctly. But at this point, we think it’s very important for Legendary to develop their own version of Godzilla, and we highly support them from Japan as well.
TO me this could get messy and continuity would suffer but maybe they are taking the approach DC does with their films.

^ maybe a reference to Legendary's hero Godzilla, in opposition to how Toho generally wants him to be a villain or anti-hero?

I thought that with "It: Chapter Two", coming out next month, that would have been the perfect time for a "G v K" teaser. But since things are relatively quiet, I don't anticipate that happening (unless, of course, that is WB's plan to surprise us all!). If not in September, then October when other big WB features are premiering.

Kong: Skull Island opened in March 2017 and its preceding Fall trailer debuted on November 17, 2016.
Pacific Rim: Uprising opened in March 2018 and its first trailer debuted on October 6, 2017.
The first trailer for Godzilla vs. Kong will probably land around that range. WB is opening Joker on October 4 so my guess is it'll be attached to that.

You know a co-worker who is a big fan asked me if Godzilla vs Kong will actually increase sales of the other movies retroactively? It's a good point. I am not sure?

Sorry to be so negative, but this article is pure crap. It tells us nothing that we don't already know, and the rest is just fanboy speculation. And just for the record, Willis O'Brian did not sell his King Kong Vs Frankenstein treatment to Toho. O'Brian hired a producer named John Beck to help him pitch his idea to studios. Beck hired a writer to revise his treatment (to KK Vs Prometheus) and sold it to Toho without O'Brian's knowledge. After O'Brian found out that his idea became KK vs Godzilla he was utterly heartbroken and devastated.
I don't know who hires they writers, but I wish at the very least they would do some research to get some knowledge about what they are writing about.
Anyway, enough of my rant

I guess the trailer wasn't attached to Joker after all. Any thoughts on what's the next likely candidate?

I assumed that the organic Titan referenced in the article was a tip of the hat to Biollante. The idea of going back to Prometheus never even entered my mind.
Either way it's a nice fan service tidbit, even if nothing comes of it in GvK.
Still hoping that if a mechanized Titan is presented it's MechaniKong, not MechaGodzilla or MechaGhidorah.

I'd also entertained the idea that, if they wanted to hearken back with a fan service bit of business, they could incorporate that post credits scene in this year's G:KotM by having Alan Jonah (or one of his lackeys) secretly inject Kong with blood from the severed head of Ghidorah. This alien blood would enable him to harness (or in some limited way generate) electricity/lightening. A nice tie-in to the powers of '62 Kong. Also, having Ghidorah-tainted blood would cause him to register as an "evil" Titan/challenger in Godzilla's eyes, giving them a solid reason to fight

Charles Dance isn't even in GvK.
