I think so too. ADI is doing design work for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. They posted a video which unintentionally featured a CGI model of a three-headed, two-winged, two-tailed dragon that has never appeared in a movie before. They insisted it was from a 2007 short called Lucifer which featured a very different-looking dragon. Even though they denied it was Ghidorah glimpsed in the video, they removed the video anyway. I simply don't believe in coincidences like that.

Just as G'14 had a number of artists putting forth different conceptual designs for Godzilla and the MUTOs, I'm sure the folks working on the sequel have explored a wide variety of takes on Ghidorah and the other monsters. I can totally see an ADI designer using their own personal contribution as their computer's desktop background even if the director decided not to use it for Ghidorah in the movie. I think we'll probably see that Giraffe Ghidorah design again in the eventual art book.

When I saw the first teaser trailer at Comic Con (not the oppenheimer one) the Male Muto was considerably different than the finished product. If you were to put it side by side with the finished product, outside of a the head, you would think they were designed for different movies.

Here's the rub, we know what Ghidorah is supposed to look like, yet Ghidorah doesn't make sense in a practical application (i know, it's a movie) Big trunk, stumpy legs and wings that just stick out like jazz hands. If they keep a powerful and familiar look, especially the heads, maybe make the legs a little more proportional and functional along with wings that can aid in walking OR fold back out of the way, I'm cool with that.

What he have here applies to Pacific Rim as well.....They are not making these movies just for us fans....it's for everyone so my perspective is this:

We fans get what has been so far a good Monsterverse, Godzilla looks like a Godzilla, new monsters and now familiar ones

The designs need to be readily recognizable, but us old fans have to accept changes in designs because

People are more savvy now, not only do we have to suspend disbelief, but also they need to make the designs make sense for new fans.

So if they are CLOSE, and KG is the hardest to nail because a moth and dinosaur are easy to replicate easily, a three-headed, two-tailed flying space dragon, not so much.

Patience.

I can see Game of Thrones having an impact on KG's design. Supplying a KG that shares design characteristics of the dragons on that show could be interesting, and that seems to be what the designers of that image had in their minds when creating it.

Pick up my 11 year old son yesterday....Life of a Godzilla dad and son....

Son: Dad, Godzilla comes out when?
About this time next year.....GROAN....
Son, When will we see the first trailer?
Probably at Comic Con....
Son: When is that?
July
Son: GROAN....can we go?
Tickets are already sold out...
Son: GROAN, dad, how did you go in 2013?
Free ticket from our TV friend
Son: Can she get them again?
I don't know, but we would have to stand in line overnight because the line is so long
Son: WHAT? How did you get in to see the Godzilla Teaser?
Well I got lucky, it was a press pass (The reality is I lied through my teeth to a security supervisor and bypassed the entire line save for the first 100 people, but didn't want to give him ideas)
Son: So when will we see the trailer?
Probably the day after they show it at Comic-Con, if not sooner.
Son: So why go to Comic Con then? LOL
Now you get it son...

Son: Dad, it's still funny when Final Wars Godzilla killed GINO in like 5 seconds....

Yes it was son...LMAO

Reshoots are scheduled to take place April 5-12 in Atlanta and they're calling for extras. If you are a man or woman aged 20 to 69 and you can be in Atlanta during that time, take a look at the available roles!

Best running crown reaction shot ever still remains the three Japanese businessmen fleeing from the T-Rex in The Lost World. I actually bellylaughed out loud in the theater when I saw that. A wonderfully affectionate 'tip of the hat' moment from Spielberg.

While I'm thinking of it... watched Cloverfield again a few days ago after not having seen it in years.

One thing they absolutely nailed - and that I hope is used, and used as well, in the next couple of G-films - is the way in which they effectively captured the very real-feeling sense of disorientation and panic at something happening that was totally outside the realm of normal human experience, as the crowds just pinballed and ran every which way in blind panic. That stuff was great. The Japanese crowds fleeing in any kaiju film always seemed waaay too organized and uni-directional. Cloverfield perfectly captured the essence of pure blind panic people would likely display when caught in the middle of something so unreal ...and yet real.

That's because Japan has been invaded by giant monsters so many times they have the evacuation process down pat....LOL

I agree, there needs to be chaos, heck I would love a good shot, maybe from a high rise where you can see the monster advancing through the city a couple blocks away and a pan down right in front of it where people are fleeing in all directions. Don't need to see them being stepped on, just how close they are to the monster.

Jason Liles, who played George in Rampage via motion capture, is one of 'several' actors contributing to the motion capture performance for King Ghidorah.

Kong in Skull Island wasn't even 100% mocap.

I doubt this will be for more than a couple shots here and there...like how "Andy Serkis" did mocap for Godzilla 2014, but it was actually just a couple facial expression shots.

It's pointless.

I mean, again, I'm pretty sure it's just gonna be for some quick facial expression stuff....but it's pointless to have ANY mocap, honestly, let alone three.

It's not bad. It just doesn't make any sense to do. Seems like a waste of resources.

Well, the news just said they were going to be the heads and provide emotive KG. Still, I don't see why one guy can't emote for all 3 heads even if it could show 3 different emotions at once.

To me, this just means that Dougherty is obsessed with making the kaiju characters. He's a died-in-the-wool monster kid, and no matter how much of these performances end up actually being used I think it's a good sign.

Oh, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. Just surprised and puzzled. With all the time in post production, I am really anxious to see how this movie will turn out.

Yeah.

Basically what a lot of people kinda consider one of the film's dumbest/weakest moments in terms of its Godzilla portrayal was mocap.

Sorry, what scene is it?
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

I thought that might have been it.

My only problem with that scene is that the narrative hadn't actually earned it.

I'm just imaging them ducktapping them all together. The two on the side have to hop with each foot step and the top halves of their bodies are flopping about like fish out of water to get that erratic Ghidorah neck movement.
