This is just a guess but maybe that is light reflecting off his eyes like when you see a wild animal at night while driving?

White seems kind of a lazy way doing his eyes. I bet they will be yellow/red.

Looks like Ford wasn't talking about Godzilla when he said "Can You kill it?" He was talking about the mutos, it seems, I think.

"Let them fight."

So I'm going to rain on everyone's parade for a moment, but based on this trailer alone, this looks a lot more like "dumb action movie" than what I was originally envisioning/had hoped for.

Saying stuff like "Not a monster, but a god." or "let them fight" bring up images of Pacific Rim, and not the original Godzilla movie. We were sold on the idea of this being a throw back to the original in spirit, but it's looking more and more like a 'Vs.' type film.

I really like that actually. I would prefer a spielberg type feel then a dread and despair type of feeling

To be fair, it's a lot easier to sell Spielbergian style films to the general public anyway. We may have hoped for something more Gojira in tone, but I think Jurassic Park was really the best we could expect, realistically.

These lines are taken out of context in a very short clipshow. Let's keep that in mind before we go making broad assessments of the whole movie's tone and delivery. ;)

With that said, as long as the movie is good, I don't care how seriously it takes itself.

I'm neutral on it honestly, but my distaste comes from the repeat of "what if this actually happened," or "this is a serious movie." If you are going to make a lighter hearted actiony Godzilla film, be a bit more honest about it, that's all.

My frame of reference was messed up going into this trailer. Particularly when you see the crazy electric stuff going on in the Nuclear chamber. It just doesn't remind me of scenes from the original. Rather, I saw more similarities to big-budget action films.

If it's like a vs film with a solid hhuman story at its core like say Mothra vs Godzilla then I'll be thrilled. I love love LOVE the original film...but there's nothing to say you can't have a vs film AND a good story. Besides, who knows what context those quotes are in? Let them fight seems like it's an IDEA spoken aloud...."What should we do?" 'Let them fight'

The god line might be how we wind up with the name Godzilla so I'm good with it....besides which it captures what we ALL constantly claim Godzilla is. He's not "just" a monster...he's more than that. We say kaiju but American audiences would now associate that word with something else.
