... you know, and a few people have mentioned this online in various places, I think He-Man would benefit more from being turned into a cute comedy cartoon. Like, I look at the cute comedy Thundercats and I wonder what the comedic hook for all the Thundercats will be? With He-Man I can easily think of comedic spins on all the characters - and many (most?) are already comical anyway. Skeletor being hilarious is like the defining thing about the franchise.

You could reboot the Godzilla Island action figure shorts as a kids cartoon. Get Sophie Campbell to design the characters... but come to think of it, she prefers Gamera... you know what? Strike that - Gamera kids cartoon instead!

On a rare occasion, I agree 100% with Dr. Kain. I apologize that I am a traditionalist. I know that hand drawn cell animation doesn't exist anymore but...from what choices we have left, I still prefer the look of digital cells than CG, or Flash, or any other cut rate animation you can think of. Pretty much anything that appears on CN post 2013 is garbage, even the *beloved* Adventure Time. I cant stand any of it. It all seems cheap, full of quick jokes, and assumes that children have zero attention span. I have taught my children differently. To appreciate deep narrative, and a long journey both in written word, and through the mediums of TV and movies.

To Illustrate- We understand that sometimes you have to use a microwave to heat your food for the sake of time, but we know full well that all food tastes better when coming form a conventional oven.

Shows like Motu 2002/03 and Thundercats 2011 were amazing, and the treatment they received from the network was criminal. There is a vicious/toxic cycle and I don't know exactly who's to blame. Is Teen Titans GO! CN most popular show because kids love it so much, or is it because it's on so often and kids don't know any better? Also we had good comedies in the past. Tiny Toons, Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, all Brilliant. Freakazoid and The Tick showed that comedy and the superhero/action genre were compatible. Heck even MIB the Series, and Big Guy and Rusty were jewels compared to what is on CN today.

I have a variety of reasons for not liking the shows you mentioned, but aesthetically they just horrible to me. There appears to be no effort. Hands and Feet are replaced by digitless blobs, features contorted...etc...I understand its just my opinion, but still none of it appeals to me. Also the stories to me have no merit, and have no redeeming qualities I aspire to, or can even enjoy on an entertainment level. Sure you can reference much of what Hanna-Barbara did with limited animation in the 60's/70's, but at least there was a renaissance of sorts, with amazing action cartoons in the 80's and 90's. Additionally, while I do appreciate older animation (I own pretty much all Looney Tunes golden collection on DVD, and I enjoy watching Disney tunes from the 30's/40's). the stuff you mentioned (Hanna-Barbara) are not things I've watched since I was a kid since they do not interest me. Also I'm not going to go into Anime, that's a who other realm. It's constant highs and lows are ever changing. One thing I can say, for all the lousy anime I see, at least I know somewhere , out there, there will be something decent I can enjoy. With regard to the state of animation in the United States, I guess I should just count myself fortunate I currently have Voltron on Netflix. I guess one good show is better than none at all.

^ I don't begrudge your opinion. Everyone's entitled to their own, it's just that my personal philosophy is to try to understand a little bit about and appreciate diverse and unfamiliar and new styles of things and also learn about their history. When folks don't or can't do the same I bristle up at it. When you learn the history of something you see the circular nature, 'nothing new under the sun' and all that, and when you mention the blob feet and hands showing no effort on the part of the artist I have that mental moment where I flashback to early 20th century newspaper comics like Polly and Her Pals and Gasoline Alley and recognize the blobby digits from the 'old masters,' as it were.

Here's a little example from my life: despite growing up in an era when hip hop was becoming the dominant form of pop music I never listened to any growing up simply because it was seen as 'scary black music' and my parents were... well, of their time (they have gotten much better in this regard). I was raised on classic rock and roll. Last year or two I've been forcing myself to listen to unfamiliar music because I felt the gap in my cultural knowledge and it disturbed me a bit

I don't want to be a fuddy duddy. I want to appreciate new things as I get older and not be the old man clinging to the past. When I read about David Bowie and Roger Daltrey being huge Kendrick Lamar fans, that kind of thing makes me very happy.

I'm not saying you should force yourself to like something you don't like, but I do hope that in some way you do challenge yourself by challenging your own tastes and assumptions. I hope everyone does.

... and, in that spirit: there was one thing in that Thundercats Roar promo that really struck me as super-cool and that was that rocking theme tune. I searched a bit for it and once I found it I've listened to it a bunch times. They're apparently a Japanese noise rock band and this song is awesome!

^ While that was a fan made opening made form clips form the 2011 show, set to the music/intro of the original 1985 show, it still looks amazing, and makes me sad thart CN is so close minded and pandering. Still I have this amazing show on Blu Ray, and am glad I'll always have it. As for the show this thread is based on. While I wish no harm to anyone involved in the show, I can only hope some disaster befalls the place where this show is being made (that involves no loss of human life or injury), and it never sees the light of day.
