Wow! This has become the age of shocking-but-welcome returns in pop culture. Genndy returning to do Samurai Jack on cartoon network?!

Awesome news! I hope this new season of Samurai Jack will also put pressure on whoever currently has the movie rights to stop sitting on them.

I do hope that even though in the new season will air on the Adult Swim-Toonami block that they'll keep the show within the same tone range as the original. This way CN can freely run it during the day too {maybe even along with the new episode Thursday stuff as there are not always new episodes running in the block} and hopefully build a new generation of fans.

Any speculation as to who will play Aku?

Greg Baldwin took over voicing Iroh in Avatar: The Last Airbender. And according to Baldwin's Wikipedia page he also finished voicing Splinter in TMNT after Maka Iwamatsu's death, and has already done some limited voice work for Aku in CN's FusionFall game. Baldwin seems like a lock for Aku in the new SJ season.

The silhouette of Jack has my curiosity piqued -- besides the helmet he appears to be wearing armor now. I wonder if this new season will feature a time jump. Specifically the last new episode of Samurai Jack ran in September 2004 and I'm wondering if we will see this new season take place approximately 12 years later in show (matching the currently almost 12 years in real life).

We first see Jack like that in one of the episodes, I thought it was a first season episode but I'm mistaken it's from Ep. 32 "Jack and the Travelling Creatures". The creatures help Jack get to a portal where Jack is confronted by the portal's Guardian and they fight; one of the final shots is of the Future Jack above.

The new season has gotten me interested in maybe tracking down the comic (not as simple to do without a comic shop in town). I haven't looked yet, hopefully the Samurai Jack comics have been collected into a couple TPBs.

Go Behind-The-Scenes of The ‘Samurai Jack’ Revival With Genndy Tartakovsky
In what might be the most anticipated animated TV series of the year, ten new episodes of Samurai Jack will debut on Adult Swim sometime this year.

Crap, that doesn't give me enough time to watch the first series. I wish they had given us this exact date a month ago.

You should have plenty of time to watch the first four seasons. With only 52 episodes, if you watch 2 episodes a day starting tomorrow (Feb. 5) you'll watch the final 2 episodes on March 2nd (a Thursday); which still leaves 9 more days until the premiere of season 5.

Not when I'm currently in the middle of Ultraman, Voltron S2, Flash, Arrow, Gundam IBO, Better Call Saul, Legends, Supergirl, Agents of Shield, reviewing the Alien series, working, and needing to start FFXV.

Jack's magic katana is shown throughout most of the promotional material so far, it's interesting to see in the trailer that Jack is not using his katana and that he doesn't seem to have it with him at all. I wonder if Jack not using his katana means something to the over-arching story of Jack seemingly having lost his way; I can hardly wait to find out.

Wow, it may have been off of the air for like 13 years, but this episode felt like it just another episode. It was great, although, the daughters of Aku grew up extremely quickly. BTW, what number is XCII? It can't be 52 since there were already 52 episodes.

XCII is 92.

Really looking forward to this. I wonder when CN Japan will air it? Guess I could check...
