I've also proclaimed it here, but yeah...People should go watch this. It's pretty great. It's easily my favorite Ninja Turtles show.

Latest episode was pretty good, though I'm already of the Shredder being "You have failed me" and then having Dog Pound or whatever say "I'm sorry Shredder, I won't fail again" and then Shredder goes "Okay...but only one more chance."

Come on Shredder, you're better than this.

I got burned out on the Turtles some years ago during the last cartoon series. TMNT was one of my earliest geeky obsessions.

I liked the first episode of this new show, should really make an effort to watch more (always loved Leatherhead).

Well I think the new episodes are on hold for a while. So it's a good time to catch up.

Ha! Nick has the last six episodes up for free streaming!

Great animation and direction, and the characterization for the turtles and Splinter (which is what makes TMNT work) is great. From just sampling a few episodes I have to say that this has a head start towards being the best TMNT TV show ever. The 'pilot' season of the original cartoon was great, but go back and watch anything other than that sometime; pretty rough. The 2003 series had it's heart in the right place and was super ambitious, but it could never quite overcome the hurdle of being produced by 4Kids.

^If that 2003 turtle cartoon had come out in the '80s or early '90s it would be very fondly remembered, but after the DCAU shows, Gargoyles, Beast Wars Samurai Jack, the metric ton of anime, ect. ect. it just looked and felt old hat. I think it could be compared with those '90s Marvel cartoons. Well, maybe a smidgens better.

Yeah, they did turn out some crud, didn't they? Okay, let me try for more accurate placement:

TMNT '03 > '90s Marvel Cartoons
TMNT '03 < Swat Katz

I'll break out some charts and graphs to elucidate.

Just watched 'The Gauntlet' i.e. the episode that ends with the first fight with Shredder.

This show is excellent! It does the broad comedy of the old cartoon (except actually funny) while retaining most of the material from the comic book - uh, and lots of completely original new twists which make perfect sense (why haven't we had an adult, but non-elderly Splinter before?).

But what I wanted to say is that the animation and direction is fantabulous. The way it blends in typically 2-D animated tricks into a CGI show is impressive, and the fight sequences may very well be the best I've seen in a US cartoon.

Oh, and when the Shredder first confronted the turtles he was in the same pose as when he did the same in the very first issue of the comic, and the fight itself was an obvious homage to the first movie.

So the new episode was pretty cool. Jeffrey Combs as the Rat King :D
I'm also convinced that making Splinter older, but not elderly, is just another one of the great decisions this show has made.

Last night's episode introduced Karai, and it was really great. Definitely one of my favorites. I can't believe I'm loving a Ninja Turtles cartoon this much.

Finally! A new episode!
Parasitica didn't seem to further the major arc, but it was still pretty interesting. If nothing else the banter between the turtles makes even the one-off episodes entertaining.

From my understanding the show's been doing well, the merchandise is selling, and there's a big budge Hollywood movie of the property being released this summer. They would be stupid not too.

Interesting tidbit: Jason Biggs has left as Leonardo and it being replaced by Seth Green.

According to the interwebs: It was either he couldn't find time with his role on "Orange is the New Black," raising his new son, all the emails from angry mothers for the offensive Tweets over the last two years, or maybe just some weird combination of the three.

But Green's an odd choice, in my opinion. His voice doesn't too Leo to me, but I'll be happy to be proven wrong.
