I just got the Bosko Home Video release of the Fleischer/Famous Studios animated Superman short films, it being years since I saw them when they were frequently aired on Cartoon Network. I'm six shorts in and WOW! They're just as fantastic as I remember. The animation is brilliant: trying to be as realistic as possible, but still with that unmistakable Popeye the Sailor-esque stretchy-ness that was in the studio's DNA.

I don't think I ever saw Terror on the Midway and I definately never saw the Famous Studios shorts so I'm looking forward to those - and yes, I know the Famous Studios shorts are a step down in quality.

A well spent six and a half dollars, that's for sure!

These are easily some of the best cartoons ever made. Fleisher Popeye,too.

Wonderful video. Btw... that "Holy S#*^ this is bad" reaction the author has to Filmation Superman series from 1967, is the same reaction I have to pretty much everything Flash Animated on CN

Oh I totally get that. I appreciate the Filmation Supes as well, I even have the series on DVD. Although I saw them in syndication in the late 70's/early 80's along with Superfriends. I was just comparing his reaction to my reaction when I see most modern toons on CN

I'm continually amused when people dump on the limited animation of the past, and yet will thrill to the equally limited animation of today's Flash/computer animated shows.

He does know that Richard Donner spent 20 minutes on Krypton in the first movie as well, right?
