I just got the Bosko Home Video release of the Fleischer/Famous Studios animated Superman short films, it being years since I saw them when they were frequently aired on Cartoon Network. I'm six shorts in and WOW! They're just as fantastic as I remember. The animation is brilliant: trying to be as realistic as possible, but still with that unmistakable Popeye the Sailor-esque stretchy-ness that was in the studio's DNA.

I don't think I ever saw Terror on the Midway and I definately never saw the Famous Studios shorts so I'm looking forward to those - and yes, I know the Famous Studios shorts are a step down in quality.

A well spent six and a half dollars, that's for sure!

Wonderful video. Btw... that "Holy S#*^ this is bad" reaction the author has to Filmation Superman series from 1967, is the same reaction I have to pretty much everything Flash Animated on CN

Oh I totally get that. I appreciate the Filmation Supes as well, I even have the series on DVD. Although I saw them in syndication in the late 70's/early 80's along with Superfriends. I was just comparing his reaction to my reaction when I see most modern toons on CN :wink:

I'm continually amused when people dump on the limited animation of the past, and yet will thrill to the equally limited animation of today's Flash/computer animated shows.
