Has anyone here seen or heard of this?
If not, you really should!
Angora Napkin is a Canadian comic-book that recently got turned into a cartoon series pilot for Teletoon's Detour (the Canadian Adult Swim)! The comic was created by Troy Little, and the cartoon was done by Spumco alumni, Nick Cross.
The story is about a girl rock-band trio called Angora Napkin. The members are Beatrice (a bubbly girl with blue hair and bouncy boobs - guitar), Molly (a brainy girl with glasses and purple hair - bass guitar and sometimes keyboard), and Mallory (a mute, emaciated slacker with red hair and a creepy look - drums). These three girls get into all sorts of wild adventures while traveling around performing songs and such, involving monsters, zombies and whatnot!
I have seen the pilot on iTunes, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! Every minute of it! It's got an awesome and wild Ren & Stimpy style, and a rocking theme song. This pilot should really get a series! And if it does (Troy Little told me he's working on another Angora Napkin project), it'll fill the void left by The Mighty B! (which unfortunately got canceled by Nickelodeon), and make a great companion to The Venture Bros. (another fave show of mine) on Adult Swim! Shows like these are hard to come by.
You can watch the whole special here:
Or, you can go to iTunes and download the pilot for free as an MP4 file! (Search for "Angora Napkin" and look for something involving Teletoon Detour pilots.)
But before you do, watch these OP sequences to get you warmed up for it!
The original intended OP sequence:
Note the reference to Rocky & Bullwinkle at the beginning!
And the "montage" OP used in the actual pilot:
One of the better montage OPs, IMHO!
