Last night's episode was alright, not as good as the premiere, but that's fine.

I loved the return of Venturestein. XD

Really enjoyed this episode. It wasn't as laugh-out loud funny as last week's, sure, but it was a cool homage/parody of a classic sci-fi trope which I don't think they've done in awhile.

For that matter this feels like the first time any of the Venture family has left the U.S. in forever.

In fact I think the last time I might have been back in Season 3 with "Dr. Quymn, Medicine Woman."

Yep. It was cool to see a traditional adventuring sort of episode. Even if Dean stayed home. I thought Hank's "I am the Bat" gag has completely paid off.

Just got around to the SPYNX Rises episode that aired this past Sunday, another winner IMHO. I liked it better than the premier

I thought it was a pretty good episode. It'll be interesting to see what becomes of Gary now that Spynx has completely been disbanded. I doubt Gathers is going to let him into the OSI.

My favorite joke was definitely The Monarch and Dr. GF posing as "Beaver Inspectors" to get into The Venture Compound. The joke of two characters totally BSing their way through a situation like that is an old gag but a good one and it's moments like that - with the two of them going back and forth making stuff up about beaver larva and so forth - that makes me forget that I'm watching a scripted cartoon and not two live actors doing improv. Great job Jackson and Doc.

I'm also really hoping that picture the Monarch found of him and Rusty as kids together pays off in the long run. We already know they went to the same college so the fact that they would have been childhood friends isn't totally surprising.

I liked SPHINX Rising more than Venture Libre, but less than the premiere.

I loved the Cobra homages being taken further (Cobra Commander/Baroness/Firefly/Storm Shadow), and Destiny

I really loved both of the plots for this episode for all the reasons you both mentioned. It was kind of classic Venture Bros while still capitalizing on the mythos in a big way. I definitely prefer it to the Billy and Pete arch enemy storyline they are going with.. But yeh, it should be interesting to see where Gary finds himself by season's end... possibly driven back to villianry?

I prefer it to the Billy stuff, but that storyline doesn't really bother me at all. It's just not quite as interesting as seeing blatant Cobra homages and Hank/Gary being awesome.

I've missed every episode since the premier.

lol. SPANIKOPITA!

It's hard to follow up SPHINX Rising, and I feel like Augustus St. Cloud isn't worth being pushed this hard by the writers, but whatevs.

Huh, I ended up staying up so late I saw the re-run. I liked that it was more of a laid-back, relaxed episode. You need those every once and a while.

I just watched this past Sunday's episode. I really liked this one. I think it's my second favorite out of the four now following the pilot. The Clash of the Titans homage - using real stop-motion courtesy of the Robot Chicken folks - was great.

And I laughed so hard at L. Ron Hubbard being the villain in that flashback scene.

Augustus St. Cloud is worthy villain of Billy and White, the same way The Monarch is for Dr. Venture. In both cases they are essentially the same people pushed to different extremes.

I was rewatching season 1, and Augustus St Cloud is at the yard sale.

Yep. He's been a background character for a while. That's the thing I love about VB. How these people sit around for a while and become full fledged characters. Sgt. Hatred was just referenced a couple of times before he makes his full appearance.

Somehow, Hank is becoming my favorite character. Not that I disliked him before, i just love the way he's developed.

I was thinking that last night as well. The boys have always been distinctive, but I like just how distinctive they've gotten.

It's all about the Honey River....

Haha. Last night's episode was great. Really solid, another favorite for the season.

And that Honey River bit, I've actually used that now.

I went into work and a co-worker came to a friend and me and started going on about problems he was having with one of his band mates (dude's in a metal band) and how this guy just didn't get it and blah blah blah....

When he finally stops I just look at him and say "Well yeah you can't expect a guy like to understand you. He hasn't been where you've been. He hasn't swam in the Honey River."

Guy just looks at me and says "Right? Right!"

I kind of like that the whole Ted joke has become so much bigger. Loved the episode.

Yeah. I actually love any time they show how the villains/heroes spend their free time.

I thought last night's episode was good, but pretty disappointing as far as season finales have gone.

I need to finally pick up Season 5 on blu-ray. I can't wait for the big special.

Any idea when the special is? I guess the new season doesn't technically start until 2015.
