I was worried about that last paragraph being true. (Only a third of film, more like a prologue)

The first promotional image for movie #2 has surfaced, and even though this is a spoiler thread since this is a spoiler for the movie after next I feel the need for spoiler tags:

Good grief, is this film really coming out in Japan tomorrow?? When did that happen...

Apparently it's been confirmed: Mechagodzilla for the sequel. I think the images are throwing us off because we're expecting Mechagodzilla to have Godzilla-but-robot features, while this one does not and will resemble Godzilla more in shape and build. He reminds me of the Mechagodzilla designed by the Metal Gear artist for the Godzilla vs. Eva promotion:





Also, I saw on GMAN's twitter than an new article says this was initially pitched as a TV series, but Toho insisted on it being theatrical.

I feel like that's a fan justification... Although it will probably be how I justify it to myself.

I'm not necessarily gonna avoid spoilers, but I'll keep away from plot breakdowns and the like.

Looks to be like your post-Showa Godzilla flick. Shin set the bar way too high.

In light of this incarnation of Godzilla recently being revealed as tall, here's a rough size comparison with the Godzilla from Shin Godzilla that I just made.

So this Godzilla is nearly a thousand feet tall? That's wild. I'm glad the first anime Godzilla is taking him there.

At some point I'm waiting for a Godzilla big enough to float through the galaxy devouring stars. A Galactuszilla if you will complete with purple armor.

So... the little Godzilla we see most of the film doesn't have the little beard but the papa Godzilla (the OG G) we see at the end does?

Okay so on that size chart: Junior, Little, Minya (FW), Minya, Minya (newborn), Godzillasaurus,???, ???, ???, ???

I actually assume the last two are Baby and GINO baby. But that third one.... is...a thing...? And the fourth one is...another thing?

What's shorter than an adult Godzillasaurus and has the classic Godzilla silhouette? Maybe it's supposed to represent the real-life height of the G'84 cybot? And to the right of it, what stands about twice as tall as Baby Godzilla and Baby GINO?


I'm surprised that the early forms of G'16 aren't included. It even has the ghosts of Spacegodzilla and Mechagodzilla'93 on the far left.
