Art for the Godzilla vs. Eva symphony CD. The actual cover is cropped and colored, but here's the totally awesome full image in b&w:

I'm sure I will get crapped on but I like that design a lot. It looks what a fisherman would of interpreted Godzilla back in the 50's from just a quick sighting.
I'd be curious to see what that would look like in a movie. I'd settle for a short movie.

It looks like the Form 4 reverting to the serpentine locomotion of Form 2/3.

It's a bit of a spiritual sibling to the Ricardo Delgado Godzilla design for the unmade Godzilla '94: distinctly Toho Godzilla features, but a body with vastly more flexibility.
I wonder if Delgado was inspired by the Heisei Godzilla's feline facial features to put Godzilla in catlike poses?

The 94 script had him occasionally going on all fours in brief bursts of speed, I think that's where that came from.
In that great big G94 article on the main site Delgado said he was inspired by lots of Arthur Adams and William Stout in his design before it was handed over to Stan Winston's guys. Toho also wanted Sony to veer close to the Heisei design without being an exact copy of it (shame how that went in the end).

Huh, the Godzilla vs. Evangelion ride at the Japanese Universal Studios will, in addition to Shin Godzilla, feature a newly redesigned version of King Ghidorah - and he's getting an action figure as well!

Dang! It's like he's swimming through the air instead of flying. What an insanely cool visual idea!!

It's like the 90s Ghidorah designs put through a Planet Eater filter. I like it! Here's to hoping a design like this might make it to a movie someday.

I love this tiny bit of animation so much. It really illustrates a difference in approach between America and Japan.
In the last decade we've seen Hollywood kaiju movies, and several have really captured that tokusatsu spirit, but still they can never quite shake this Western approach that by adding elements of biological realism that the monsters will themselves become more realistic. The monsters, no matter how fanciful, have this added, animalistic detail that could never be there in a monster suit but follows from the tradition of Willis O'Brien and Ray Harryhausen pretty cleanly.
Then we have Shin Godzilla going the opposite direction and preserving the unreality of Godzilla even though he's now computer-generated and no longer a man in a suit. This version of King Ghidorah is also coming from a place more of formal abstraction then what the new Hollywood film, with its bat wings and Cobra necks, would ever go near. He's like some sort of nightmare fusion of eel and fish with death-mask faces.

It's neat to see Ghidorah's gravity bolts depicted as literal gravity manipulation weapons, especially after the more straightforward electrical versions seen in King of the Monsters.
Honestly, while not everyone's fond of "Godzilla X Evangelion", I think it's rather incredible this crossover campaign exists at all. How often do we get to see two largely unrelated franchises from different studios converge thanks to a single connective creator, and go on to promote and produce merchandise at this scale? It's like if Walt Disney Studios and Paramount Pictures/Bad Robot Productions did a Star Wars X Star Trek campaign to promote Episode VII because of J.J. Abrams - never, not ever. And yet it happened.

The gravity manipulation powers are dope, and an interesting way to match Shin Godzilla's ridiculous level of firepower.

The cynical side of me thinks they will be reusing that Ghidorah 3D model in the stand alone Ghidorah movie. (if they really are going to attempt it)

I'm totally down for this version of Ghidorah being in movies.

I have no beef with the design. The 3D model is of low quality however. I'd like to see them put a little more effort into it.
I'm just being a negative nancy.
