How do you think they'll do it in this movie? I think it's safe to say suits and CGI will be used, but do think they'll use other techniques with it? Unlike a lot of people, I don't have a raging boner for practical effects if it doesn't work well. As much as I appreciate and understand the hard work that goes into the miniatures, they really don't do it for me most of the time. It's so obvious they're miniatures.
I also love effects that fool me into thinking it's something else. I thought the Colossal Titan was another man in a suit, turn out I was wrong. It was a huge puppet. I thought the Davy Jones in POTC was makeup, but turned out to be CGI.
How much time is Higuchi getting to make Attack on Titan? I wonder if it's as rushed as the Godzilla movies? If so, at least we can get an idea of what Higuchi can do with limited amount of time.

I wonder this also. If they do both CGI and Suitmation it really could work well. Toho kind of hot dogs things together, same with China in the action film genre. Remember budget dictates a lot of this.

Well, we know that a full Godzilla suit has been built and that Godzilla will likely also be CGI rendered or the suit will be otherwise augmented with CGI.
But I wonder if any other Godzilla props will be built, like the animatronic head and torsos of the '90s movies or the big feet of Monster Zero and G1985?

The fact that tanks and buildings were CGI shows how people claim they can tell something is CGI are lying. You can't tell good CGI. You can tell bad CGI.

Reminder that this is one of the best looking Japanese science fiction films of all time.
I mean, what more were you expecting?

I fully expect Toho to take all the wrong lessons from Shin Godzilla in respect to special effects.
