Yes! I think at worst a G film should be PG-13. I'm not advocating a blood bath, but if there is a better word to use than put it here..."realistic" monster damage. You can show loss of life and physical damage without excess gore, but enough to not lose the teens and tweens that have seen much worse in their lives than I did at that age. If you show them, oh I don't know, King Kong getting blasted with atomic breath and the only damage is some singed hair...yawn...but if you show even a blackened area, not even blood, but reasonable damage, then you will have more acceptance with the general audience.
Remember, kids are more cynical, critical and savvy than back when we enjoyed 60's and 70's Godzilla fare...and those were by far the "bloodiest" of the entire genere...Godzilla spewing blood from his head, or neck...blood comming out of all the missles stuck in his flesh...Anguirus getting his jaw broken and bloodied...etc.
You must show no mercy, nor have any belief whatsoever in how others judge you... for your greatness will silence them all!
