I don't really love the Godzilla Power Hour, but I'd watch it all day over the anime ever again.

Monster Planet is better than several Heisei and Millennium Godzilla movies. In fact, it's about equal to the best Tezuka movie (Godzilla x Mechagodzilla).

Come at me, bro.

Granted, GPH is more fun, for sure. I didn't say I did not like it. I do think it's "the worst thing this franchise has ever produced", but I still like it. I can just recognize it as the worst (in my opinion, of course). Much "worse" than this new anime G. Completely different animals, of course.

 Almost everything i like about Monster Planet is in it's implications and not actually in the movie. As a film, this movie lives or dies with its sequels, but at this point i'd be hard pressed to rank it above anything in the Millennium series just because it is not particularly satisfying with it's incomplete narrative. For now I might rank it above Space Godzilla, but once the trilogy can be viewed as a whole I expect to move it up.

Word on the street is that movie #2 comes to Netflix this week.

^ They didn't include the last film's release in their monthly schedule either. A Japanese trailer for the worldwide Netflix release was what informed us the last time.

While trying to find some other source to validate this i came across this clickbait article at comicbook[dot]com

A part of me really hopes they have a similar article for G'14's foot debate

Looks less likely now: apparently they're screening the film at Annecy this week and the Hollywood Reporter phrased that weirdly.

^ Are you talking about this THR article?

Annecy: Netflix Renews 'B: The Beginning,' Sets 'Hilda' Premiere Date

The very last line of the article is "Netflix is also set to premiere the second installment of its Godzilla anime trilogy later this week."

That sure sounds like it means Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle will be streaming on Netflix this weekend. If they mean Netflix will be screening it at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival, they must just mean that it will be the French theatrical premiere because it already played in Japanese theaters last month. Saturday is the last day of the film festival and Sunday is the last day of the week so I guess we'll know soon enough whether we'll be watching the new Godzilla movie this weekend.

^ Fingers crossed!

Saturday would be an optimal release day; the first movie came out on a weekday and I got up real early to watch it before work and I was basically half-dead.

Well, so much for that rumour. Monday would make sense as a release date, since that's exactly a month since the theatrical release, but I'm not holding my breath.

Someone I trust told me July would be a similar length from Japan to Netflix as the first one.

Since I really don’t care about this thing and may or may not even watch it, I’ll just leave it to someone more motivated to look up the date that might be.

Planet of the Monsters opened in Japan back on November 18 and was on Netflix worldwide two months later on January 17, a Wednesday. That was a 60-day window.

City on the Edge of Battle opened in Japan on May 19. Another 60-day turnaround would put it on Netflix on July 18, also a Wednesday.

^That would place it a day before San Diego Comic Con, where we all hope (and pray) to see the first actual promotion for Godzilla: King of the Monsters. If the stars align it may be quite the week for Godzilla!
