Colossal Creatures on Hulu

Postby Benjamin Haines » Tue Oct 10, 2017 8:48 pm

The streaming service Hulu just added this year's Colossal to their streaming catalog along with all of the Sony-owned Godzilla movies. They've now created an entire "Colossal Creatures" category featuring all of their relevant titles on one list.

None of the films have the option to toggle between different audio tracks. The Sony-owned Godzilla titles are all English-dubbed (with two exceptions) and they all appear exactly the way they do on Sony's BRD releases (with two other exceptions). The title screens and credit sequences are all identical to Sony's BRDs.

These are the featured movies in the order that Hulu presents them. The spelling, punctuation, and capitalization is all identical to how Hulu lists the titles.

    Colossal

Godzilla (1998) - Cropped to 16x9 aspect ratio

Godzilla 2000 - US version, cropped to 16x9 aspect ratio, with an animated Crackle logo screen at the very beginning. Also, the English captions are out of sync with the dialogue, appearing about a second too early.

    Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla

Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah - The English captions for this one are way out of sync, appearing several seconds too late.

Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah - This one has the original Japanese audio. While the other Godzilla movies here all have yellow-colored English captions that correspond to their English dubbing, the subtitles for this one are colored white and appear identical to those on Sony's BRD.

Godzilla Vs. Mechagodzilla ii - This one also has the original Japanese audio. Unlike GvsKG, the English captions for this one are yellow-colored dubtitles like all of the other Godzilla movies on Hulu.

Godzilla VS. Megaguirus: The G Annihilation Strategy

Godzilla Vs. Mothra - The English captions are ALL CAPS and they show up several seconds too late.

Godzilla Vs. Spacegodzilla - The English captions appear several seconds too late.

Godzilla, Mothra, And King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack

    Godzilla: Final Wars

Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. - Crackle logo at the beginning, English captions are ALL CAPS.

    Cloverfield

    10 Cloverfield Lane

    Monsters

    The Blob (1988)

The Host - This has the original Korean audio.

I believe that i saw most of the Godzilla movies in this list except for Tokyo: S.O.S. and Final Wars. When we we get an English dubbed version of these 2 movies? :? :?:

I have never seen you post in the same thread more than once so I'm not sure if you'll ever read this. That said, Tokyo SOS and Final Wars both have English dubs. The American DVD and BRD releases of both films include English audio options and they're also dubbed in English on Hulu, if you happen to have that streaming service.

Does Hulu regularly group movies like this? Because it's pretty cool! In the streaming age you kinda loose the concept of marathons that works so well on broadcast TV, but this is the next best thing.

It seems to be a new thing that they're doing. They also just gave their visual interface a complete overhaul shortly before they added all of these Godzilla movies. They have a category devoted to James Bond too.
