Since it is coming up soon, what is to be expected? There is always a surprise here and there, but this year, I don’t think we will get a lot of Godzilla news.

At best, we might get some concept designs for “Godzilla 2” and perhaps see if they will reveal how Mothra, Rodan and Ghidrah will look like. I doubt that will happen, but what I do expect, is that we will be finally getting an official title for the movie.

Legendary will most likely be concentrating on their two upcoming releases in 2018, “Jurassic World !!” and “Pacific Rim II” and I do expect a teaser for one or the other, or perhaps both.

As to any fun guesses on surprises? Well, here are a couple of intriguing ones that I thought of. Legendary will announce that they have bought the rights to Gamera, and he will join this Monsterverse, and a remake of “Destroy All Monsters” is indeed now in the works! Of course, my guesses have never come to fruition. But who knows, perhaps this will be a first!

The big thing I'm expecting is PacRim stuff. I think a teaser trailer is pretty likely, poster, more details on the plot. Godzilla seems like a long shot (though I'm sure he'll make a splash next year) but maybe they'll throw us bone and give us a something, even if it's real small.

I'm hoping that at the MST3K panel we'll have the new season confirmed, and maybe some other fun stuff (maybe they'll have recorded their recent live shows as specials).

Of course, if Kadokawa wants to bizarrely announce another Gamera thing this year that's all right by me!

no matter how many times i read that it still seems like i must have put some of the words in the wrong order. it's just not right.

Sadly, DeKnight has tweeted that there'll be no PacRim2 stuff for Comic-Con. Says they simply don't have anything substantial ready for it, and that he wants to nail the first teaser.

Well, that is already one prediction that I've gotten wrong (and this one was suppose to be the slam-dunk!). Now Legendary only has "Jurassic" to promote. But hey, in lieu of"Pacific Rim", perhaps, that will result in us getting a little bit more Godzilla news! We shall see.

Apparently, Kong is coming to San Diego Comic Con 2017:



My thinking is that they will most likely be promoting the newly released blu-ray and perhaps further discuss those timelines. There is that proposed T.V. show, so I don't know if this announcement has anything to do with that. And of course, there is that possibility of another movie. We shall see.

^The TV show is being made by a different party, right? Hopefully it'll be a little backdoor to talk about the MonsterVerse, and, as you say, maybe give more exposure to the Monarch timeline.

How about a Chinese Chaiyo coproduction featuring a CG Ultraman and a bunch of original characters for him to team up with, like some sort of Dragon Force (ala Hanuman)?

Well, all of my predictions went awry, with the exception that we were not expected to get big Godzilla news this cycle. For sure, I thought perhaps we would at least get an official title for the film (IMDB now states it as "Godzilla Sequel"). But the Mothra Twitter pic was cool, and of course, they went all out promoting the "Kong: Skull Island" blu-ray.

The one surprise was that "Pacific Rim 2" teaser and designs, when we were told that this movie was not going to be showcased for this event.

Yes, they showed all of the superhero trailers, which was expected. I thought perhaps we would have gotten a little something on "Jurassic World 2".

The most pleasant surprise was finding out that "The Green Slime" is getting a blu-ray release!
