I remember liking the first Guyver movie but also remembering that it was more promise than delivery. Well that and Mark Hamill turning into a cockroach.

Anyway, watched Guyver 2 last night. I liked how it promised a low-budget Batman premise at the beginning but that was completely swept aside once the credits rolled. Then there was a some bad acting and a whole lot of nothing for quite a stretch. I'm still a little confused on why they let our hero just waltz into the excavation camp and hang around. Anyway, it starts picking up steam towards the end with fights and monsters, some of which have some really cool design aesthetics.
My favorite moment in the movie is when the Guyver is throwing objects at a monster who mockingly slaps them aside until the Guyver throws a stick of dynamite which the monster, thinking its more trash, catches in his mouth.
The Guyver follows that up with a small laser blast And Ba-BOOM! Well, I laughed.
There's a sequence where the Guyver is interfacing with the spaceship that then provides him with background on the Guyver. Its a little confusing, and I have the impression that this was supposed to be the cool mythos-building part of the movie. I didn't quite get what all was going on, and the revelation later didn't help clear it up.
It could have been a lot worse overall.
