This year's Gfest was very good, but also very crowded. I had no idea where the Artist's Alley was and didn't see it until Sunday. I tried Kaiju Jeopardy and once again was defeated in the finals. Victory will be mine one day. Guests were amazing. Ifukube concert was amazing. Also interesting this year was the amount of people who knew each other or who at least recognized each other thanks to the internet. I can't count the number of times people came up to me and said they remembered me from the Fresh Vinyl Live Google stream. My purchases were modest, but I picked up some choice items and managed to replace the 1992 Adult Mothra I broke years ago. Of course, I didn't get one of the Marmit Desugojis, but I knew I wouldn't. I'm not that tight with any of the dealers or those who hang with them...so....yeah. Your only other option was to fight over them right when the dealer's room opened and I wasn't going to do that. One, the opening of the dealer's room conflicted with Kaijucast and I'd much rather see that. Two, the crowds were just so obscene that it made me avoid the dealer's room for several hours. Overall, the con organization was pretty good considering the large crowd. I didn't like where they had autographs set up....right in the hallway. Basically, it guaranteed a lot of congestion in the halls and the area where the guests were wasn't particularly well lit. Still, the main thing about the con is to meet and hang with those who share this hobby and the con definitely delivered on that. Great convention....all that's left is the wait for next year.
