Curious to see which version it is.

The Mothra from last week surprised me. It was subtitled and the extended cut rather than the Columbia cut.

I'm curious as to which version of Monster Zero is this week. Will it be Godzilla vs Monster Zero with those nasty video generated titles?

M O N S T E R Z E R O with the original title card? lol Invasion Of Astro Monster?

Cool! Hoping that "Gulliver" and "Jack" will receive a blu-ray treatment down the line.

A movie that didn't get mentioned here beforehand but aired on TCM Sunday night.

"Kurutta ippeji" ("A Page of Madness"), a 1926 Japanese take on German expressionism about a man who takes a job in an asylum to watch over his crazy wife. The most important thing? The assistant cameraman was a young Eiji Tsuburaya.

Here's the section of their site devoted to their Friday spotlight on horror:

Plus horror all day on Halloween day:

I felt this was one of their strongest Halloween line-ups. I saw Mad Love (1935) and Dead of Night (1945) for the first time and am now a huge fan of those two terrific classics. I especially like how their quarterly Disney showcase fell on October and they showed holiday appropriate things like The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad and the Mickey short Lonesome Ghosts.

... but looking ahead: I'm always interesting in whether TCM goes with one of two traditions, namely, a Marx Brothers Marathon or a Thin Man marathon for New Years Eve. This year they decided to split the difference, with the Brothers films all day and the Thin Man movies in the evening!

Doesn't do me much good, since I work that day and never got into the Thin Man films.

I'm stuck at work while TCM is having a Harryhausen marathon! Is there no justice in this world?

Took a peek at the October schedule. This year's Halloween lineup is insane: Christopher Lee is the star of the month so Mondays are reserved for him (starting with non-horror early in the month and switching entirely to horror halfway in), horror movies every Friday night, Frankenstein movies every Sunday night (starting with Universal, then running through Hammer, Goke and Guilala bring the Tokusatsu during one night's TCM Imports, and the last four days of the month are entirely horror and monster movies!

TCM's been running two of their Harryhausen interview segments during their commercial breaks recently. They've shown the Mighty Joe Young one in heavy rotation before it aired last Saturday, and I just saw one for Clash of the Titans (that I have never seen before) which airs next Saturday (the 10th) for a nightlong triple-feature salute to stop motion with King Kong ('33), Clash of the Titans, and One Million Years BC.

Unlike his other movies, "One Million Years B.C." is one of those Harryhausen titles, that does not get much play time on TCM. Of course, they are probably showing it because of its the 50th anniversary, and with the much anticipated blu-ray finally coming out in February. "King Kong" plays on TCM with regularity and will most likely be shown again when "Kong: Skull Island" comes out in March. Curious if they will finally show "King Kong vs. Godzilla" and "King Kong Escapes" during that period as well!

Travis Knight, director of Kubo, animator and Laika CEO, co-hosted the night of stop motion movies! Pretty cool.

And it was interesting to see that TCM played the longer British version of this movie, rather than the 20th Century cut. And I believe both versions will be available on blu-ray come February.

They're showing Rodan on the 28th.

I was clued in because I saw a quick shot of Tsuburaya model plane effects in this month's TCM montage/music video (aren't those awesome?).

It is funny that they are not showing "Rodan" for that day (and saving him for the 28th), but rather "The X From Outer Space" which I wouldn't exactly count as one of the great movie villains of all time.

This month's 31 Days of Oscars on TCM has a rather quirky element: all of these Oscar winning/nominated films are being shown... in alphabetical order! It's the third of the month and we're still on 'B.'

The Birds just ended, and Blazing Saddles is next.
