Weekly Kaiju Movie Thread #20
Since the moratorium on Matango won't be lifted for another few weeks, I proudly present you with 5 movies that aren't Matango. I have also proposed some ideal pairings to go with each film because some foods just go well with certain movies (Seriously, who doesn't crave a nice chianti and some fava beans when they are watching Silence of the Lambs?) If you aren't old enough to consume adult beverages let me know in the thread and i will be sure to drink an extra one in your name.
All films have official domestic releases, so hopefully everyone can find a way to view the winner. Since there is only one correct answer, I will provide you with some background information courtesy of Amazon.com so that you can carefully make your choice... in the mean time I am going to go watch Matango and maybe eat some sauteed mushrooms.
Remember, voting ends Friday @ midnight and there will be a quiz after the viewing!

The Host
"On 09 February 2000, the American military base of Yongson releases toxic chemicals in the drain to the Han River under the direct order of an arrogant coroner. Six years later, a mutant squid monster emerges from Seoul's Han River and focuses its attention on attacking people."
Suggested pairing: Fried Squid Legs and Bottled River Water
Monster X Strikes Back / Attack the G8 Summit
"In 2008, the G8 summit is being held at Lake Toya near a volcano in Hokkaido. While the world leaders are meeting there, a Chinese rocket causes the monstrous Girara to be born. Those in charge of the G8 nations, in an effort to improve the standing of their governments, implement individual plans to destroy the monster, all of which end in failure. As the leaders continue their posturing, two journalists stumble across a cult and a mysterious idol by the lake. Could that discovery be the key to dealing with the problem of Girara?"
Suggested pairing: International cuisine and Sapporo
Negadon: Monster from Mars
"A returning spaceship crash-lands on the streets of Tokyo, unleashing a deadly cargo: Negadon, a giant, vicious monster from Mars! Now, only Dr. Narasaki and his long-abandoned robot Miroku can save the Earth. It's giant robot versus space monster for the fate of all mankind."
Suggested pairing: Ramen and Sake
Calamari Wrestler
"A championship wrestling match pits Koji Taguchi against Crush Volcano, the latter no match for Koji’s signature move, the Torture Ring Strangler. Koji beams as he clutches the Champion Belt, only to have it snatched away by a mysterious new challenger in the ring—a giant squid! A giant squid, in fact, who not only evades Koji’s key attack, but destroys him with a Northern Light Suplex! Koji’s fiancée Miyako watches tearfully, though there’s something about this Calamari Wrestler that seems familiar to her…"
Suggested pairing: Calamari and Kirin
Monsters
"A crashed space probe over Mexico changes life as we know it when giant aliens begin to appear. A couple must travel through the dangerous infected zone to get back to the US in this stunning sci-fi epic."
Suggested pairing: Quesadillas and Dos Equis
