"Stupid and yet cunning, a very rare specimen indeed."
I had time to watch this last night. Ahh, a good ol' Sony release, I love the transfer on this. Beautiful picture, and the only time the quality drops is during the stock footage from other G flicks, and even then its pretty good. Stereo soundtrack, but even better enhanced through the good ol receiver.
"NO ONE IS SAFE!"
For as awful and Gigan-less as the dvd case cover art is, the Gigan art on the disc itself is quite cool.
Its pretty clear why this is a favorite on the forum. Its simply a good story with fun characters. The only shame of the flick is how much better it would have been had it a budget so it didn't need the stock footage and deteriorating G-suit. I think there might be a gargantua hiding in the movie somewhere. The movie makes the most of what it has, and that's also part of the charm.
I watched the subtitled version and definitely prefer the take on the monster talk here. No cartoon balloons, just monster talk that we don't understand from the garble but do understand from the monster interactions.
Lets talk about one of my favorite scenes, Anguiras coming ashore.
I love perspective shots like this.
For as great as this scene is, the Anguiras suit looks zombified!
What's the deal with the Anguiras suit? Was there two suits, or is there a reason for the tar on the face and undead eyes?
