It's a game, not a movie, so this thread should probably be moved. I'm excited for it though, with Kojima and del Toro involved it has potential to be the first good Silent Hill game since the fourth.

Yeah, it is a game, but I'm still skeptical. There hasn't been a good game since 3.

Although, I wouldn't mind another movie if it was actually made more like the first movie rather than that piece of crap Revelations.

Never saw the second movie, been meaning too though. Thought the first one was one of the best game-to-movie adaptations. I think I might go double feature on those soon.

I agree with your assessment of the first film, but the reviews for the second one were so bad that i felt like if i watched it, it would diminish the first one in some way...

The second one is so bad I have been too afraid to watch the first one since.

The only thing that even remotely feels like the game is the music. Other than that, the movie sacrificed the suspense, the mystery, camera angles, and plot for 3D effects (that were crap) and action scenes that don't belong in SH.

Well considering that the other contenders for best game-to-movie adaptation is Mortal Kombat and Tomb Raider, it's not the best praise it could get. But I only saw the first one once, so I really should go back and re-evaluate that opinion.

Hitman was quite close to the games. And honestly, the first Resident Evil was not a bad movie.

I just love Silent Hill because it was just like watching the cutscenes to the game with the music from the game, the atmosphere and suspense from the game, the camera angles from the game, and it even had the convoluted nonsensical ending of the games.

Which is why it's a top contender for me.

At first I didn't like the Resident Evil movie. I was irked that nearly half the fodder were taken out by a laser hall instead of zombies and monsters and there wasn't any nod to the convoluted puzzle/key system in the games. But as the series went on I grew to love. It I still wish they had more mutations and monsters in the movies though. But it's buckwild and crazy and I can't wait for the next installment.

Well, this game is probable going to get canned as Kojima is leaving Konami at the end of this year. In fact, Konami has apparently removed Kojima's name from everything MGSV.

Considering the hype with the collaboration with Del Toro and the Walking Dead dude, I doubt this game will get canned. If I remember right, Kojima and his team have been considered contracted workers rather than employees for some time. So chances are Konami still has him contracted for Silent Hill.

But then again who the hell knows.
