Lets rename this thread the hating on Koichi Kawakiter thread, and have it moved to another section, since this game doesn't seem to be all that much the focus. Grand Theft Godziller? Sounds interesting... but not $70 interesting (Super Robot Wars is!)
On the subject of sfx, I rather liked Kawakita's work up until vs Biollante. His work on movies like Zero Pilot and Zero Fighter Burns were EXCELLENT. I think after that, he phoned it in and its very evident. And I don't know why. Finding out about his dislike for Anguirus is very disappointing =/.
Whats this "Even Nakano's better than Kawakita?"
Of course he is! Is there any doubt? What's this "even" stuff? Nakano's work was top notch and could match and LITERALLY (he loved explosions) blow Tsuburaya's work out of the water, when given a budget. Submersion of Japan, Conflagration, Deathquake, and Return Of Godzilla speak for themselves.
The rumors of Kawakita pulling strings is not news to me sadly.
That said however, I really do think that the consumer market in Japan is more interested in Heisei and Millenium era products, and not BS. Recent fan rankings and polls from Japan to determine "the best Godzilla movies" had Godzilla vs Biollante and Godzilla vs Destoroyah on that list. And the latter beat out Mothra vs Godzilla of all things.
So I really don't think it's as far fetched as it seems.
I just think Western Godzilla fans have better tastes and are more critical of the series as a whole.
Though a part of it is crotchety old codger mentality too.
Ultraman. Is a Dick. A Big Dick.
