[quote]Last night, Microsoft MSFT +2.06% dumped a pile of information into our laps about some of the more controversial specifics of the Xbox One. We heard confirmation about its practices for always on, used game resale, and game ownership in general. Some of the highlights:
- Your Xbox must check in via the internet once every 24 hours, if not, you won’t be able to play games
- It is up to publishers whether or not you can resell your games or gift them to friends
- Discs have nothing to do with ownership, and are only use for installation purposes. Games are simply licensed now
As I read through this list and the expected internet outrage that followed, I had to wonder what Sony must be making of all this.
There are two options for Sony and the Playstation 4. They can march arm in arm with Microsoft backwards in time with practices that actually make gaming less accessible and fun, or reject all of it and possibly win the next console war before it’s even started.
Sony has been eerily silent about all of these issues to date, at least in any official capacity. Yes, in interviews they’ve given us supposed comforts like “no, the PS4 doesn’t need to be always on,â€

Wow Microsoft, talk about underwhelming. I saw absolutely NOTHING here that looked new. All I saw were the same types of games with better graphics. And the only game that could have looked interesting was shown for like 4 seconds. WTF?! I mean, Dead Rising 3 looks no different than the last two Titan and Battlefield looked like the exact same game. Metal Gear Solid V is bound to be awesome but it looks like Red Dead Redemption meets Metal Gear. We saw nothing game wise to Quantum Break. Ryse is just God of War without Kratos. And $500? Did they learn nothing from the PS3? Oh, and I love how their Battlefield demo would not play. I wonder if the machine was requiring them to check into the internet to ensure it was their demo. :-p Sony just needs not to "OH GODZILLA! WHAT TERRIBLE LANGUAGE!" it up and they have won this generation.
EDIT:
Oh god, this is so funny. One of my friends works at Best Buy and he went to Gamestop on his lunch break when they started taking preorders for the X1. The first guy there is about to pay for his preorder and the power goes out across the entire block radius, also knocking out Best Buy's power.

Wait, they're finally making a new Star Wars battlefront? I remember there was a third one lanes a while back that got shelved... Gotta go look this up... I hate the prequels, but the OT half of the Battlefront games were tons of fun and I always hoped for a new one on the ps3...
If its good enough, this might sell me on a ps4...

Yeah, right now, Microsoft is like a battered housewife, they just don't know when to shut up.
