The Last Game You Beat and What are You Currently Playing

Postby Tom R VanSlambrouck » Wed Jun 17, 2009 3:52 pm

Since we're usually talking about various games we've played in beaten in the "Official Platform" threads why not just create one so those don't get clog up. Also give us other ideas of games to play or avoid.

Well the last games I beat where:

Uncharted Drakes Fortune (PS3)- I didn't really care for the demo but since I got this for really cheap thanks to Circuit City going out of business I decided what the hell I'll give it a play through and it was actually really enjoyable.

Killzone 2 (PS3)- I played through the single player campaign and I have mixed feelings about it, the Story was pretty good a lot better then the Halo sequels but the controls and some parts of the game the difficult got severly hard for example the final boss battle was pretty lame.

As for games I'm currently playing:

Buzz Quiz TV (PS3)- It's a great trivia game I hope more people pick it up because it's pretty fun.

Animal Crossing City Folk (Wii)- I'm going to start playing this on a daily basis rather soon but really all I do is try to pay off my debt and fish.

Lair (PS3)- Another game I picked up for cheap ($25) going to restart this and try playing it with the new control scheme where you can use the analog sticks if I don't care for it I'll go back to SIXAXIS.

Don't mind the poll it's the only thing I could think. Damn pruning monster.

I've been playing Killzone 2, but that's kinda it. I haven't been playing too much at all lately.

Started playing Lair again and it's not as good as I remember. Even with Analog controls. I'm going to try to play through it but if I can't get interested then I'm going to just give up and move on to something else.

EDIT:

I think I'm going to give up on Lair the game is just to damn tedious for me. I'm only six levels in and blah each level seems to get harder and harder. Well I'm going to go back to finishing off World at War and play Lair spradically.

Rented Prime 3... ah, not sure if I like it. It's too weird to control. I mean the sensor is up to my chest and if I drop my arm even a bit then the game goes a little hay-wire. It just seems unnecessarily difficult to even kill an enemy. Definitely glad I rented it instead of going out and buying it.

It looks a lot like Assassin's Creed when I see the posters, is it the same? I have yet to play a demo, or even watch the game play at that.

Umm Prototype is more like Hulk Ultimate Destruction or the Spider Man games (Spider Man 2 the Movie on up). More so Hulk since it was made by the same people.

While it isn't as good as the first Prime, Prime 3 is awesome. The controls take a little to get used to, but once you do, they are spot on. At the same time though, the game gets easier as you go along, especially after the first (really freaking hard) boss. Hell, the final boss is probably the easiest in Metroid history, but that means I'll regret saying that next game, when the boss will probably be the hardest freaking mother ****er in video game history.

I dunno. I am done with what I guess was the introduction now, and am on the first planet (after the invasion). My main gripe is that it doesn't feel like Metroid yet. There's lots of talking, lots of cut-scenes, and the levels are pretty linear so far. What's worse is I have to keep moving the sensor around and changing my position to find the best possible way to play without the camera going crazy. I am sure i'll get the hang of it eventually, but now I really see that first-person shooters should definitely not be on the Wii.

I think what you should have done Brick is played a little bit of Red Steel first before you got into Prime 3.

Once you get used to FPS controls with that MP3 becomes easier to control. I guess the best thing you could do is turn both the sensitivity on the Wii down (from the Menu) and also in the game and see if that helps.

Also it's been awhile since I've played the game but isn't there an auto lock feature?

I already have the lock-on enabled and the sensitivity at it's lowest setting. Like I said, my big problem is having to move the sensor and trying to figure out the best position to play the game from. Standing up doesn't really work, and sitting down is better, but unless I am resting my elbow on my knee then the camera usually ends getting lost on the edge of the screen. Needless to say I had to stop trying for awhile after a half-hour because I had a huge headache.

That sounds like me when I was playing Metroid Prime Hunters on the DS I just couldn't get into it and actually got motion sickness from it. :?

I felt like I was heading there myself and I mean what better game to get that feeling from? You're so immersed in it, especially Prime 3. Honestly I just find myself using the morph ball to go from area to area because at least I can control that no problem. I hope Mario isn't as big of a pain in the ass to play as this is.

Brick-
Mario only uses the motion control for some extra bonus level-type stuff.
If you've played Mario 64 or Mario Sunshine, you control him exactly the same way in Galaxy. And Galaxy 2,I guess.

The last game I "beat" is Punch-Out,allthough I've only beaten the title part, still working on the defense part. The problem is I keep wanting to play Brawl or Mario Kart online instead.
I'm also playing New International Track and Field on DS,which is too hard and frustrating for me to reccomend it to anyone, but I still like it.

Play Red Steel? Are you crazy man, Red Steel was garbage.

Brick, are you still not enjoying it? I'm sorry to hear that, but what is it about the controls you do not like?

BTW, did you not at least like the LotR styled Ridley battle?

I'll pass on Red Steel, thanks.

Kain, my main gripes with the controls is finding that right position to play from. I can't play standing up or sitting down without Samus' arm getting stuck on the edge of the screen causing the camera to go a little crazy. It honestly gave me a huge headache.

Just sit the same way you did when you played the Wii edition of RE4. I just sit on my couch relaxed (sometimes my legs are crossed, other times they aren't) and control the game as if it were just another regular game.

Never played that game... I just got the Wii last week

It's fine, really. I see the complaint as to why shooters are so risky on this console. The game works for some, but not everyone.

I've decided to finally try and finish Fallout 3. Unfortunately my superpower is getting lethal motion sickness from playing FPS-style games, so I can only manage about an hour of Fallout a day.
