If you save in a dungeon you start at the beginning of said dungeon. That's pretty much the case of all Zelda games from my expierence.

Do you notice a lot of jaggies on the edges of Wii games? An example for me is Wii Sports which is really jaggy on my set using Intec cables.
If not then I think I'll be switching over to the official Nintendo ones but the closest place that sells them is Best Buy and they want $34.99 as opposed to the $29.99 MSRP price.

I have the Psyclone Component Cables, and I've never had any jaggies either.

If you're just buying it for VC games,I would just get a classic controller,rather than looking for a GC one.

I've never had any issues with data corruption and I leave my cards in the Wii all the time.
Then again I haven't played a GCN game on the Wii in about two years.
