Oh yeah. That makes far more sense. I just guessed MechaGodzilla because...he's a major player in the film series, though it's kind of nice to see they don't feel they need to adhere so directly to those.

That would be cool. I forgot about the drill obsession. It would be a nice break from Mechagodzilla. The crystal object pic from issue four made me think Spacegodzilla, and he would fit in better with him than Mechagodzilla would.

Yeah, I'm kind of glad this guy is tackling SpaceGodzilla. I always felt like the design was okay and the concept was cool enough, but that nothing so far has made good use of it yet.

HOLY. COW.

I can't imagine the amount of time it takes to create all the detail Stokoe puts into the architecture.

Oh, and that Godzilla looks bad ass.

I'm not a big fan of the millennium design, but it's a nice break from the nineties design, which is used most often.

I'm becoming more of a fan of the kiryu-goji design since reading this comic. I'm also glad it's not the Heisei Godzilla...it's really nowhere close to being my favorite design.

I hope that we'll be actually seeing a few of those battles played out, instead of having them all just on one page like this, only to be forgotten in the future.

The cover for Gangsters and Goliaths #4 had a pic of Godzilla duking it out with Gigan, but he never showed up in the issue. *Did not dig* :( I just hope that is not the only time we see any of those monsters. I would die to see Megalon in one of these.

Well, given the time-skips I don't mind these battles not being shown as part of the story, but with Gigan. He was added to the cover because I believe there was a problem in communication. Somebody thought he was in the issue when he wasn't.

Wow, this will be getting me buying comics again. Still going to wait for the trade out of convenience, but this is looking better and better. Megalon!

I hate that I'm going to have to wait so long to get this issue.

On the topic of January solicitations
Editor Bobby Curnow on the IDW forums wrote:As for HCW, we unfortunately need to take another skip month. Shooting for February. I know no one will be happy to hear that, but it's an unfortunate reality to maintain the level of Stokoe quality needed!

So no HCW in November or January! ouch!

^ that's the plan assuming they hit the February deadline... Its a shame that they are having schedule issues since it is such a good series. I hope it doesn't affect sales too much

Yeah, hopefully it doesn't affect sales, but honestly I feel like it's worth the wait.

Neat. It'll be nice to see Megaguirus in something other than X Megaguirus. There's some neat story potential for a giant insect that feeds off of energy methinks.

DOOOM!!!

Previously on the IDW Godzilla Forums
Bobby Curnow wrote:Top 300 isn't much of barometer for premiere publishers. We're definitely doing something wrong if we don't crack the 300 with a licensed book.

That being said, 8K is about our bottom threshold for a sustainable line. Here's hoping we can keep a good deal above that.

Issue 6 sales number were 8,126 according to the Diamond Top 300 list... and its been falling consistently..so the next issue will probably be below that threshold.

I posted in the editors thread to ask if digital sales have been helping and referenced the threshold, so maybe they'll address it

That sucks. Though the ongoing has consistently been the worse part about this whole thing. I can only hope the miniseries continue. Those have been pretty cool.

I think the ongoing will be fine. The creative team already pitched a full 12 issue story, and IDW will have signed them for it. Numbers around 8000 will make the money back for the initial print run, and then they'll make money on the trades -- especially with a new Godzilla movie in 2014.

Plus, IDW has a number of titles that routinely come in under 8,000 and they keep coming out. The issue probably rests on the licensing fees and contract that they have with Toho. Even in a "worst case" scenario, I would bet that IDW would be willing to take small losses in the short term, in order to gain good market position come May 2014.
