I still have my 40-year retrospective, but it is more than high-time for this to be redone. I turned down buying the LIFE magazine Godzilla retrospective today because it is already out-of-date after being out a few months! Wha!? You're going to mention Shin Godzilla as a paragraph after-thought, Godzilla, King of the Monsters very little, and Kong vs. Godzilla not at all!? Sorry. If I had this I'd want it redone already!
So someone please attend to this glaring lack? A full-color coffee table book would be so nice!

I bought and still have The Godzilla Compendium -- must have been sometime in 1998 or 1999. An updated version of the Compendium would be great, it's too bad we haven't seen one yet; perhaps we'll see something after Godzilla vs Kong next.

^ There are more Godzilla fans in America now than ever. I'd love an updated version of the compendium, but when it came out out I was 10 years old and that book served as a heaping helping of official information which I didn't know before. Nowadays, young fans in the same place as I was have fan wikis to fill the man on all that stuff. There's little need for a book of this kind. In-depth biographies and art books are the more likely candidates for actual books to be published.

Would you guys prefer an all-new compendium, or just a *Volume II* if you will, that picked up where the other left off? I'd love to see a ton of new sketches by Art Adams with monster size and weight comparisons, but not sure if he would be up for it.

Here's a pretty close version of an updated compendium...
https://www.amazon.com/Godzilla-FAQ-Tha ... illa+f%2CaI have a copy of this myself, and for anyone looking for a first Godzilla book, this should fill the bill.

A friend just gave me this but it does not speak of Shin Godzilla except in passing, and Kong vs. Godzilla is barely mentioned, so it does not fit the bill as the new Godzilla Compendium.
