I'd say this seems awfully similar to the story arc DH used to end their Godzilla ongoing series. But at this point I'll take any Godzilla comic, over no comics at all.

Wow, an actual Megalon sighting Granted, they're using Megalon in the exact same setting as in ROE (I think the authors of these books need to more carefully research what other authors have already done in previous IDW works, for these IDW books seem to unnecessarily repeat themselves in terms of monster match ups/settings/scenarios a bit too often). Nevertheless, Megalon has been criminally under-utilized, so I'll take it Looks like it's going to be a fun issue, and the artwork looks good and isn't off-putting like the recent G:Oblivion shlock...

And I actually smiled quite a bit when I clicked on the *spoiler* in the article . Always wanted to see Godzilla battle In fact that would have been the final boss in my "made up" Godzilla Video Game, and the final Monster of an animated series I'd want to write.

IDW Solicits Godzilla: Rage Across Time #4 and #5 for November 2016

Trade waiting, but I leafed through the first two issues and it looks awesome! I was especially happy with Godzilla's new opponents.

I caved in and bought #2 off the rack and fished the last copy of #1 from the back issue boxes.

Just picked up issues #4 and #5, while I did not really care for the art/story of #4 (there weren't even any enemy Monsters), #5 certainly made up for it. A fun romp of Monsters in pre-historic times, very little dialogue until the end, with a nice fun twist. Definitely ending on a high note after an issue #4 dud.

I wonder what the future of Godzilla will be with IDW. In 6 years we have had 85 individual comics spread across 3 long running series and 7 short run series. There have only been 6 months without a Godzilla comic in the last 6 years, and 19 months where 2 comics were offered. Of course we don't know anything about 2017 yet...but I hope there is more to come.

Issue 1 of Godzilla:Rage Across Time take place in Japan in the year 1274, when Japan was about to get invaded by the Mongolian fleet. The invaders has allied with someone who could control Megalon and Gigan. Two enemies must team up on a quest to get a legendary monster. They get an angry Godzilla instead. Somehow Godzilla has his fire breath before he gain it in 1954. Someone else could have done the things that Godzilla did in that issue. I believe that Mothra was the one who done those things, since the Mothra fairies was in this story. This was the only issue of Godzilla: Rage Across Time that I has brought.

So now that this series is over what did people think?

I really liked issue 3 and i thought 2 was pretty solid. Issue 1, i liked most of the art. Issue 5 was just one long roster-wide melee, which is ok, but far too quick a read for the price tag. Issue 4 seemed like an idea for some other mini that was condensed to a single issue, then had Godzilla added to it.

Sadly, the only comic book shop near me closed down last year and I haven't been keeping up with IDW's Godzilla comics on a monthly basis since then. I finished Rulers of Earth and collected all of Godzilla In Hell by ordering them online but I'm not paying shipping costs for every individual Godzilla comic that IDW puts out. I haven't bothered to get the trade paperback for Oblivion because I'm not a fan of the kaiju character art I've seen from that but I do plan to get the Rage Across Time TPB eventually. IDW has done really well with the minis that feature different creative teams for every issue (Legends, In Hell) and I'm interested to see how they handled this one.

Finally got around to this my piles of unread comics. I really enjoyed it: even if it didn't hang together prefectly it was fun seeing the different creative teams riffing on the same concept for five issues. The first issue was my favorite because of Matt Frank's superb execution of aping the look of traditional Japanese prints, the multiple insider references to the series, and the use of the famous G2K maquette as the Godzilla design. My second favorite was the issue with Hannibal, because I thought the art was really evocative with the painterly color and extravagant costumes the characters wore, as well as the fact that the artist created his own Godzilla design (with elements based off cave formations?) instead of using one of Toho's.

I believe IDW renewed the license at least once during the run (and negotiated additional monsters) - No idea if Legendary Comics killed the IDW run or if IDW just decided to let it go since the numbers pretty much plateaued. They were getting better sales numbers from Magic the Gathering comics.

On the speculation side, the Kong comics coming out of Legendary are branded "Monsterverse" so fingers cross Legendary Godzilla makes a comeback (the writing on Legendary's Kong has been much better than Godzilla Awakening - and leagues better than Kong of Skull Island (from Boom!) I'm curious what else Boom! will do, but this first mini-series turned maxi-series (mid-run) wasn't what I was looking for in Kong comic

^Matt Frank has said he suspects Legendary/WB is the reason behind IDW loosing/not renewing their Godzilla license.
