i have to wonder if this is a "oh yeh, well we thought it of it first" response to IDW announcing Cataclysm.

Meh, I'm not really that blown away. I did like where they were going, though (I still think the Battra switcheroo was brilliant).

I originally found the article insightful but Ebirahsmeg is right....there were bigger problems at hand with their run in the comic. The idea itself of what they wanted to do DOES sound good but the execution was very lackluster.

As someone that defends KoM as "not as bad as people say it is", I can say that this article made me like it less. It made me have flashbacks to Devlin/Emmerich

I don't like this because it doesn't address problems inherent in the pacing of the comic.
The other thing is that I've heard a different story about the mothra twins. From what I heard he did want them to be DARK AND EDGY but
Toho nixed that idea.
I prefer reading KOM to the Ongoing, but I still dislike both and they are my least favorite of IDW's output.

I think once the novelty of "GODZILLA COMICS" wore off sales went to their natural number, which is plateaued around 6800 an issue

Here's a splash page from Eric Powell's next issue of The Goon. It's way better than all his Godzilla stuff combined.
He just didn't have a handle on this material. I think if he had done it in his usual style, like a MAD Magazine version of Godzilla that was completely cartoony and full of gags, it would've been better.

For all this book's faults, I do like the risks it was willing to take. I thought the Battra twist with the French fairies was pretty inspired.
