Thanks for the info. At $60 its a bit of a stretch, but 230 pages and Hardcover will probably be enough to convince me to make some shelf space

Side note... the Diamond solicit mentions "Mature Themes"

This will be a must buy for me. I want to get more serious about collecting kaiju posters. I feel like the Godzilla series has some of the best poster artwork I've ever seen.

Since its being distributed through Diamond, almost any local comic shop can preorder it for you. I have my preorder in through my local shop.

I want this...

I know what I'm going to tell one of my friends to get me for my birthday next month since he loves to buy me art books I never look at after a week.

Mine shipped today. I've been looking forward to a book like this for a long time! I'll see if I can post pictures of it when it arrives if anyone is interested.

One of my friends gave me this today as a late birthday present and it is pretty damn good. There are movies in here I have never heard of before, like one called Half Human.

I do need to ask though, what does it mean by 3 sheet poster and 8 sheet poster?

That's a reference to poster size. A typical movie poster (that you'd see at a theater) is called a one sheet (approx. 27 inches by 40 inches today). One Sheets are usually displayed vertically, as you increase in size the actually poster may be displayed horizontally.

A three sheet poster is about 3 times the size of a one sheet, about 41 inches by 81 inches. An 8 sheet would be roughly 8 times the size of a one sheet, at that size it's probably a poster intended to be used on a billboard. Bigger posters used to be a common occurrence (and of course billboard sized posters are still used today), but I think the studios typically stick with one sheets nowadays and use standees for the big stuff in theater lobbies.

So the book overall was really awesome and I am glad to have it, but I cannot help but feel the last little bit was rushed. There is just so little in the way of posters for the movies from the 2000s in there.

Oh, and there are quite a bit to spelling errors and mistakes made throughout the book. Other than that, I love it because it features most of the posters that were pictured in the booklets of my old Region 2 DVDs.

I think there were a lot less overall different posters made for the movies from the 2000s (they certainly weren't released in many countries).

ON Page 11, in the Godzilla section it says, "In 1994 for the film's 50th anniversary, Rialto pictures finally brought the original Japanese version to the US."

Good catch. I see on page 17 it does have the correct date on the captions of the photos of the posters themselves.
Not sure if your singular example rises to "quite a bit to spelling errors and mistakes", but I am sure you have a long list of heinous mistakes to which you can point.

When I get the chance I will go through it again and post more of the pages and what I found wrong since there were were about 4-5 more if I recall.

It's nothing huge, I just wanted to make sure I pointed them out.

i got to say the weirdest thing about this book is that it goes from left to right! I am so used to my Godzilla art books being Japanese and having to go right to left.

I did have a Toho/Godzilla posters book already, but this one has a lot more, plus it has a nice hardcover. Good work Sean Linkenback.

I was disappointed to miss this one, so I'm happy to report amazon has the paperback listed for October.
